This is what growth looks like. 🙌🏼

Throughout our Term 2 Personal Leadership Program in the Derwent Valley, Tasmania, we witnessed so many powerful moments of young people stepping outside their comfort zones and discovering what they are truly capable of.

For some, that meant going from not feeling comfortable answering a question in class, to confidently standing up and speaking in front of their classmates, friends and family at graduation. 🎓

Our graduates have shown incredible courage, confidence and belief in themselves — proving that growth doesn’t happen all at once. It happens one small step, one brave moment and one challenge at a time.

We are so incredibly proud of every young person who showed up, gave it a go and chose to believe in themselves.

“Why am I here?”
A question we’ve all asked ourselves at some point.

At graduation, our Personal Leadership Program graduate shared their thoughtful and moving poem, Why Am I Here? A beautiful reflection on the uncertainty of the future, the search for clarity, and the realisation that sometimes, we don’t need to have all the answers just yet.

We are so incredibly proud of the courage, growth and self-belief our graduates have shown throughout the program. 💛

Graduation is one of our favourite days of the term, a chance to celebrate and watch our graduates begin to see in themselves, what we have seen in them all along.

Thank you to our graduate, for sharing your words and reminding us that it’s okay to question, to wonder and to find our own way forward. 🌟

Earlier this month, our Youth Opportunities Ambassador, from , joined us for a program day at Parafield Gardens High School. 🏉✨

Although it was only the second day of the program, the young people were already embracing the opportunity to challenge themselves, build confidence and support one another as they shared positive affirmations to each other during our first star round of the program.

Charlie shared the challenges of his own football journey, and how the importance of goal setting and self-belief are all part of the journey to achieving your goals both on and off the field, in school and in everyday life.

It was inspiring to see the young people so engaged, asking questions and sharing their own aspirations and learning practical tools they can apply throughout their own personal leadership journeys.

A huge thank you to Charlie for his visit and we can’t wait to welcome him back again soon! 👏🏻💫

Term 2 Graduation Celebrations – in Tassie 🎉🎓
Recently, we had the absolute privilege of celebrating the incredible achievements of our Term 2 graduates from our very first Youth Opportunities Personal Leadership Program in the Derwent Valley — and what a term it has been! 🌟

Throughout the graduation, we heard powerful stories of growth, courage and confidence. One of those young leaders bravely volunteered to deliver the Acknowledgment of Country at graduation. As an Aboriginal young person, they chose to write their own words which were deeply personal, powerful and filled with emotion.

They gathered themself, took a breath, and found the strength to continue, showing incredible resilience and courage. They stepped into their role with confidence, pride and a quiet determination that was a beautiful reflection of just how far they have come.

A massive congratulations to every one of our graduates! 🎉 And thank you to our incredible trainers, school support staff and the wider village of supporters. A special thank you to the Tasmanian Community Fund for their vision and generosity in supporting this work, and to the schools, community leaders and partners who have helped bring it to life.

Here’s to celebrating the journey — and all that comes next over the next 5 years! 🌟

Surf Life Saving SA’s new Mental Health First Aid course aims to develop the knowledge and confidence to recognise the signs and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem. Together we can help create safer, healthier and more supportive environments for young people and their communities.

A portion of each booking fee is reinvested into Youth Opportunities programs that support and make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Happy International Youth Day! 🌟
Today, we’re celebrating the young people we support and the incredible futures they are creating for themselves, their families and their communities.
We’re especially proud to share the words of one of our Personal Leadership Program® graduates, a young person who has gone from feeling lost and unmotivated to feeling confident, focused and hopeful about their future.

Today is a reminder of why creating space for young people to be heard, supported and empowered matters. Because every young person deserves the opportunity to believe in themselves, aim high and know the possibilities are endless. ⭐
