Another great event at DST/AMWA premises. Excellent presentation on difficult topics in Islam - such as the treatment of slave. Islam had the only inbuilt system for freeing slaves, and in many cases, those who were already slaves had more rights than the poor at that time.

It is about time that AFIC was compelled to be more accountable to the whole community. The assets it has amassed appear to have been held by AFIC for AFIC's benefit, not for the benefit of the schools they were intended for. As a result, AFIC is almost certainly the wealthiest Muslim organisation in Australia, but is entirely unaccountable to the Australian Muslim community at large while holding the assets on its behalf. This cannot continue. At some stage the books must be opened and the secrecy and control relinquished.

Islamic schools targeted in federal Department of Education audits Islamic schools across the country will be investigated by the federal Department of Education after a string of sackings among senior staff members and principals, allegations of financial mismanagement and concerns over the delivery of the curriculum.
