Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

Professional Development at Goodstart Angle Park

Professional Development is important to us all at Goodstart Angle Park. At our staff meeting this week, we focused on Quality Area 1 – Educational Program and Practice.
Educators broke into their room groups and explored the Self-Assessment Tool, taking the time to read, discuss and highlight the practices that reflect what they currently do within their learning environments.
This was a valuable opportunity for educators to reflect on their practice, share ideas and identify areas of strength, as well as opportunities for further growth and development. Working collaboratively allowed educators to learn from one another and continue building a shared understanding of Quality Area 1.
We are committed to ongoing reflection and professional learning to ensure we continue to provide high-quality educational experiences for every child at Goodstart Angle Park.

"Five little ducks went out one day... and inspired a wonderful learning experience in our nursery! 🦆🎨
After listening to the story 5 Little Ducks, the children explored their creativity by drawing the ducks from the story. Using rubber ducks as props and chalk on chalkboards, they practised their fine motor skills, imagination, and storytelling through art.

📚 The children in Preschool 2 spent time discussing and voting for their favourite book. They used their skills in counting and subitising to compare the results. Through open-ended questioning, they identified the most popular book and the second favourite, building early maths skills while having their voices heard.

Sensory Dramatic Play Fun! 🧁

Children used coloured sand to create and decorate pretend cupcakes during indoor play. They poured, scooped, measured, and transported sand between trays and cupcake moulds, exploring different ways to build and design their creations.

Through this sensory experience, children developed early mathematical and scientific concepts such as quantity, capacity, and measurement. They also used language like "full" and "heavy" to describe their work, while expressing creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills through their unique cupcake designs. ✨
