Getting to know the plants of the Goody Patch.
Tetragonia tetragonioides - Tucker Bush
Warrigal greens is a nutrient-dense, salt-tolerant Australian native groundcover known as New Zealand spinach. Widely used as a cooked spinach substitute, they must be blanched before eating to remove high levels of oxalates. They are fast-growing, thrive in coastal, sandy, or poor soils, and were used to prevent scurvy by early settlers.

All is well at The Goody Patch.
We have been working on achieving lots of goals and we are succeeding at everyone of them.
- changing plants for the season
- reducing pilfering by having a sharing table
- keeping ripening oranges on the trees instead of becoming school time makeshift tennis balls
- controlling rodents
- building a new greenhouse
- moving the compost heap
- welcoming more community members to monthly working bees
- so much more.
Thank you to everyone who contributes to the garden. It’s a pillar of what community and collaboration can deliver.
Experiencing the benefits of a village means you need to be a good villager too. Join us at the first Sunday of the month for working bees. We would love to meet you.

Fantastic turn out today for our working bee 💪🏼🪴.
The fountain got repaired the small shade shed got shifted a ton of plants got potted. Little Felix made some new friends (who build a “boat” and “beach house” in the nature play area) and the usual pruning weeding digging un-netting and harvesting occurred.
The working group list is also now pinned on the cork board.
Lastly big shout out to Amanda who is moving to the hills so will be leaving the garden. Want to say a huge thanks for the all the work you’ve done in the garden. It’s been a joy to have your wonderful energy over the years and you’ll be very much missed 🙌🏼
Thanks to our Penny for the 📸

It is small but it is a massive victory!!!! Ladybugs are a sign of garden health and a good bug ecosystem. We are hoping they will set to eat any little other bugs and flourish here.
By the way, working bee on Sunday. Will you join us at 9?

There are a couple of mega zucchinis on the Goody Patch sharing table. Probably good to gut this, stuff and bake. When they get to this size, they can be woody inside.
The Goody Patch sharing table is where garden members place what they are happy to share with the local community because if you didn’t plant it, it isn’t yours to take.
Join us as a member to join in the joy of planting and harvesting!
The Goody Patch birthday and Spring Sale was a dream.
We had baked goods, plants for sale, music, entertainers, activities and special guests from the gardening community and beyond.
Thank you Jeni Lee for capturing the day and making this video.
We are warming up for our next Spring Celebration. Can’t wait to see everyone again.

Goody Patch monthly working bee jobs almost done! We are going to leave a list of jobs we didn’t get through on the board each month so if anyone on the community has a spare minute, you can come over during the month and tick something off.
Support the garden as a member or as a community member who assists with tasks that keep the garden a thriving community space.
