Marina Khoury (Class of 2006, Fitzpatrick) is thriving as a Partner at Lindbloms Lawyers after pivoting her study focus from commerce and marketing to law during university.

Amanda Brady (Class of 2004, Dalton) is a Director at Cowell Clarke, citing a “fantastic” legal studies teacher who diverted her from her original plans to become a vet.

Congratulations to you both on being recognised for excellence in your chosen field!

Jessie’s a Diamond!

Old Scholar Jessie Grenvold (Class of 2020, McAuley), has received her maiden call up into the Australian Diamonds 2026/27 Netball Squad, reportedly responding to the call with “I didn’t think you’d know my name!”

Today we reflect on the remarkable life of Old Scholar, MaryAnn Bin-Sallik OAM, who recently passed in Darwin at the age of 85.

A member of the Class of 1958, MaryAnn began her career as a nurse, before becoming the first indigenous Australian to work in academia at the University of South Australia in 1975. She was also the first indigenous Australian to gain a Doctorate from Harvard University.

MaryAnn’s commitment to indigenous higher education saw her receive accolades including the Order of Australia in 1989, and National Female Elder of the Year in 2017.
