Saint Ignatius' College Adelaide

Saint Ignatius' College Adelaide Make the world brighter with an Ignatian education. As a Jesuit school, our educational philosophy is based on 'cura personalis', (care for the whole person).

Saint Ignatius' College is Catholic co-educational school offering educational excellence from early learning to Year 12. At Ignatius we are committed to realising the potential of young men and women, empowering them to make a difference in the world. Our appeal rests in our strong sense of community, the values we celebrate, and in providing a balanced education that addresses the academic, soci

al, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of our students' lives. We provide students with meticulous care in the development of their imaginative, affective and creative dimensions and assist each child to mature gradually in all these areas. This enriches their learning and prevents it from being a solely intellectual pursuit. Since education is a life-long process, it is our aim to instil a desire to learn that will remain with each student well beyond their days at Saint Ignatius’ College.

🌿Exploring Liveability Through Kaurna Traditions 🌿

Last month, Year 7 Geography students participated in a Liveability Walk around our beautiful Athelstone campus with Uncle Ivan, a respected Kaurna Elder.

Drawing on the knowledge, traditions and experiences of the Kaurna people over thousands of years, Uncle Ivan shared valuable insights into what makes a place liveable. Students deepened their understanding of traditional practices, including the importance of bush medicines, cooking methods, long-distance communication, and hunting strategies.

The walk began in our new native garden before moving to the creek and concluding on the oval, where students enjoyed learning and practising boomerang throwing. 🪃

🌟 Today is Early Childhood Educators' Day! 🌈

Today, we celebrate and thank the extraordinary educators who nurture, inspire and support our youngest Ignatians every day.

The care, patience, joy and expertise you bring to your work helps lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning, curiosity and belonging. Through your dedication, you create environments where children feel valued, confident, and encouraged to thrive. 🌱

Thank you for the difference you make in the lives of our children, families and wider community. We are stronger because of you, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do.

To all our Ignatius Early Years staff, we wish you a wonderful Early Childhood Educators' Day filled with the appreciation and recognition you so richly deserve. ❤️

📚✨ Book Week is being celebrated across the College this week, with students and staff from the IEY, Junior School, and Senior School embracing the theme 'Symphony of Stories' through the joy of reading, storytelling and imagination.

Yesterday was a particularly exciting day as our Junior School students dressed up as their favourite book characters and took part in a vibrant Book Week parade. It was a wonderful showcase of creativity, with staff joining in the fun and Year 12 students making a special visit to the Junior School in costume to participate in the celebrations. Back at the Senior School, the Year 12 students put their costumes on display in a lunchtime fashion parade.

At Saint Ignatius’ College, we recognise the important role books and libraries play in nurturing curiosity, creativity and lifelong learning. At a time when school libraries are becoming less common in some settings, we remain deeply committed to maintaining beautiful libraries at each of our campuses, supported by dedicated teacher librarians and library staff who inspire a love of reading every day. 📖❤️
