Family day care service My name is Vanessa And I’m the educator for young achievers family day care. It gives us an enthusiasm for life that is irreplaceable.

With a family of seven children, we enjoy doing things together as a family. Since being a mother, I have come to understand the importance of the first five years of a child’s development which has shaped my career in working with children. Being with them, doesn't just give me the opportunity to nurture and teach them the skills they need to continue on with the next stage in their life, either

What may look like simple splashing was meaningful learning in action.

Today the children explored movement, volume and control — observing how water flows, how weight changes as containers fill, and how their actions influence outcomes.

Through shared space and collaboration, they strengthened social connections, problem-solving skills and confidence.

Joyful, energetic and full of discovery — this is learning through play.

Today’s learning looked a lot like play
Coloured blocks, chalk, light and reflection—watching the children explore how colours change, mix and come alive when the light hits them.
This is how curiosity grows

Sometimes the best classroom is the backyard.
Mud kitchens build creativity, teamwork, and confidence — and the memories last forever.

Today we practiced holding our pencils correctly and tracing our names
These small moments build confidence, independence, and a love for learning as they prepare for Kindy

Watching their focus and determination reminds me that big futures start with little steps.
So proud of these little learners today

Every childcare room has two types of children…
One is ready to explore EVERYTHING
The other is just here to enjoy the calm
Both are beautiful personalities and both make our days so much fun
Which one are you?

Today the children explored colours and patterns using monster truck wheels. By building on their interests, we encouraged creativity, language development, and fine motor skills through meaningful play-based learning.

On a hot day, water painting became the perfect creative outlet. With just water and a brush, the children were able to express themselves, practise control, and explore marks, letters and shapes in their own way.

This simple activity supports early writing skills, hand–eye coordination, and confidence — while allowing gentle guidance through prompts like forming letters, recognising shapes, or even writing their names.

It’s a reminder that meaningful learning doesn’t need to be complicated. With open-ended materials, imagination leads the way and the possibilities are truly endless.

What began as simple water play quickly transformed into an exciting bubble-filled experience. The children watched, reacted, experimented, and connected as the texture and movement of the water changed. Moments like these encourage curiosity, communication, and shared joy — showing how playful experiences naturally support early learning and development.

He was very clear: “I’m not playing with the water.”
Two minutes later… completely soaked and having the best time of his life 😂

Kids teach us daily that curiosity always wins—and honestly, that’s the magic of childhood 💛

Most people think this is ‘just play’…but this is family day care in action Water play, morning tea, and children learning how to be kind, social, and curious together. In a family day care setting, these everyday moments are where confidence, connection, and belonging grow This is why play-based learning matters.”

Today was a beautiful reminder of why connection matters in family day care. Educators coming together to celebrate a child’s special milestone, build relationships, and support one another — because quality care grows when we grow together

Welcome to my day at work in family day care 🤍
Today the children were engaged in pretend play, taking on the roles of doctors and nurses and using their imagination to guide their learning.

Pretend play supports children to build confidence, language, social skills, and emotional understanding through real-life experiences. As an educator, I intentionally set up the environment so children feel safe, secure, and comfortable — because when children feel secure, they are more confident to explore, interact, and learn.

Learning outcomes aren’t worksheets or formal lessons — they’re the everyday skills children develop through play, such as independence, communication, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging.

This is what learning through play looks like in a calm, supportive family day care environment.
