Students from across Adelaide came together at St Dominic's Priory College for another fantastic evening of debating in the Debating SA Schools’ Competition.

Throughout the night, students demonstrated thoughtful arguments, strategic rebuttal, confident speaking, and outstanding teamwork as they tackled challenging topics and represented their schools with pride.

It has been wonderful to see so many debaters continuing to develop their skills, challenge themselves, and grow in confidence throughout the season.

What an incredible start to the season.

Hosted at schools across Adelaide, Round 1 saw students deliver sharp arguments, confident speeches, clever rebuttal, and outstanding teamwork. From first-time debaters to experienced speakers, the energy in every room was fantastic to see.

A huge thank you to our adjudicators, coaches, teachers, volunteers, and host schools for making the first round such a success — and of course to all the students who brought the passion, preparation, and debating spirit.

We are delighted to have Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC as our Patron. Government House will be holding an Open Day next Sunday 24 May which will coincide with the SA History Festival. The house and grounds will be open from 10am to 2pm.

Additionally, the Winter Conversation Series bookings open on Monday 18 May at 9am.
