If anyone needs a DIY “kinetic sand” after the recall, 1 cup of flour and 1/4 cup of vegetable oil makes an okay substitute if you can’t get playground sand easily.

It’s a different consistency, like a cross between play doh and kinetic sand. Don’t expect it to move or hold the same way the sand does.

The imprints from the dough/cookie cutter details work if you press firmly enough but definitely aren’t as defined as proper kinetic sand or dough but I think it’ll hold okay with cutters.

I’m going to trial some with playground sand but I don’t have any on hand for an immediate test run.

Ps these are brand new cutters to avoid future contamination worries ☺️

I saw a post way back about using a fitted sheet at the beach to keep babies sand free and thought it would be perfect for Lego in a classroom!

LIFE CHANGING

I use it for kinetic sand too because I can shake it into the bin or can shake it off outside.

No mess and quickest pickup ever! I literally dump the sheet in the box and it’s all contained within 30 seconds.

Just pop boxes in the corners to keep the sides upright.

2024 is looking a little different to what I anticipated.

This GENIUS idea from Holly Haines BLEW. MY. MIND.

She’s set up a play list that gives her kids a time frame for each task of their morning routine.

Eg three radio songs to get up and dressed.

Then a fun non radio song plays. By this time, they know they should be eating breakfast.

Repeat for cleaning teeth and shoes etc.

This blew my mind. I’d have loved this as a kid!
