This year, Adelaide West celebrated CBCA Book Week with the joyful theme, "Symphony of Stories". Our school community gathered for a wonderful family picnic in the western yard, blessed with beautiful weather (finally we are starting to feel some spring!). Throughout the week, classes engaged in a range of exciting book provocations and activities built around this year's CBCA short-list, fostering a love of reading and storytelling. Thank you to all students, families, and staff who made this such a memorable and inclusive celebration!

Today we celebrated our wonderful SSOs with a delicious feast, a lucky dip and personalised SSO choccys. A wonderful opportunity to come together, enjoy each others company and celebrate our educators. Happy 2026 SSO Week!

It's Principals' Day! 😀

Today we’re celebrating the more than 500 public education principals across South Australia who make a difference in the lives of students, staff and families every day.

For Sally Schwartzkopff, Principal of RENMARK PRIMARY SCHOOL-OFFICIAL, the opportunity to lead the school she once attended is a special full circle moment:

'Becoming Principal of the school I went to is something I never imagined as a child. Looking back, it's a full-circle moment that carries a deep sense of responsibility and appreciation for the journey that led me here. Walking the same corridors and playgrounds that shaped my childhood and education, now through the eyes of a leader, is incredibly special.

So much has changed over the past 40 years, yet the heart of the school remains the same. I still remember starting school in transportable classrooms after the 1984 fire, and seeing the black marks that remain on the ceiling of an old storeroom is a quiet reminder of our school's history and resilience.

The teachers who invested in me helped shape the person and leader I am today, and it is a privilege to do the same for the next generation while honouring the school's rich history and leading it into the future.'

Adelaide West Special Education Centre Term 2 Recap

What a fantastic Term 2 we've had at Adelaide West!

Over the past few months, our students have enjoyed meaningful learning experiences, built new friendships, and celebrated plenty of birthdays along the way.

Weve been lucky to have weekly sessions with One Culture, a performance from Dancing Through the Decades and finished the term with a visit from Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary!

As the leaves changed colour and winter arrived early this year, it has been wonderful to see our new students settle into school life, grow in confidence, and embrace new opportunities. We are so proud of everything our students have achieved this term.

We hope everyone has a safe and restful break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting term on Monday the 20th of July.

We can't wait to see what Term 3 will bring and are excited to welcome some new faces to our school community!
