Our little scientists in the Baby Room had a bubbly and colourful Science Week experience!
Using bicarbonate soda, vinegar and bright colours, the babies watched with curiosity as their experiment fizzed, bubbled and erupted into a colour explosion!

🌟 Why science experiences matter for babies:
• Encourages curiosity and exploration 🔍
• Supports early cause-and-effect learning
• Develops sensory awareness through sight, sound and touch
• Builds early problem-solving and prediction skills.
• Encourages communication and shared learning.

♻️🍃 COMPOST 🍃♻️

Learning, exploring and making a difference — even our littlest learners can help!
Limited Vacancies Available so book a tour now: https://tinytotsacademy.com.au/

As part of an exciting long-term composting project, the children worked together to create their very own compost. They explored the different ingredients needed to help nature do its magic—adding dirt, food scraps, grass, paper, and the very special ingredient… water!
Throughout this ongoing project, the children will observe how these everyday materials break down over time, discovering how food and garden waste can be transformed into nutrient-rich compost to help plants grow. This hands-on experience encourages environmental responsibility, curiosity, patience, and an understanding of how we can all care for our planet.

🚙 PAINTING WITH CARS 🚗

Drive on by to see our learning come to life - book a tour at https://tinytotsacademy.com.au/

The children engaged in a creative painting experience using toy cars and ramps. Large boards were covered with paper and positioned upright, with different coloured paints added to the surface. The children rolled toy cars down the ramps, creating colourful tracks as the vehicles travelled through the paint. They observed how the colours mixed together, compared the speed of different cars, and experimented with a variety of vehicles to see the different patterns they created. Throughout the experience, the children worked cooperatively by sharing and taking turns with the cars.

⭐️ This hands-on activity encouraged creativity, scientific thinking, problem-solving, and an understanding of cause and effect, while keeping the children actively engaged in their learning.

⭐️ A creative painting experience as we create caterpillars ⭐️ We love connecting with our families, book a tour and meet our wonderful educators: https://tinytotsacademy.com.au/

Our educator Chelsea had the opportunity to speak with one of our families about their heritage, culture, and some of the traditions and knowledge that are important to their family. He shared that he is a proud member of the Wirangu people, whose community is on the west coast of South Australia.

During the conversation, they explained that observing caterpillars is one way some families notice seasonal changes. Sharing that when the caterpillars begin changing from black to developing yellow stripes, it is a sign that the cooler weather of winter is approaching. This valuable cultural knowledge helped us connect our painting experience with local Aboriginal perspectives and encouraged the children to explore the natural world through observation and storytelling.

We are grateful to our wonderful families that share their cultural knowledge with us, helping to enrich our learning environment and strengthen our connections to Country, community, and the diverse knowledge of their Wirangu cultural traditions.

🍞 Freshly Baked Fun 🍞

Nothing quite like the fresh smell of baked foods: book a tour and discover some incredibly smells for your senses - https://tinytotsacademy.com.au/

This week we have enjoyed a hands-on cooking experience as we made our own damper for a tasty afternoon tea. They carefully measured ingredients, mixed the dough, and watched as it transformed into delicious damper ready to be baked.

Throughout the experience, the children developed important life skills including measuring, following instructions, taking turns, and working together. They were excited to learn about this traditional Australian bread and proudly shared their finished creations with their friends.

Cooking experiences provide wonderful opportunities for children to build confidence, strengthen fine motor skills, and explore new tastes and traditions through meaningful, hands-on learning.
