Our student ambassadors attended the Refugee Communities Association of Australia RCAA National Conference ๐
It was a valuable opportunity for them to deepen their understanding of the challenges and experiences faced by refugee communities, while gaining practical tools and insights to support individuals and families settling into Australia.

Today we recognise World Social Work Day, a global day that celebrates the vital role social workers play in supporting individuals, families and communities, and advocating for social justice and wellbeing.
This yearโs theme, โCo-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society,โ highlights the importance of unity, cooperation and social solidarity in addressing the complex challenges facing communities around the world.
For many of you studying community services and social work, this day reflects the values that guide your learning and future practice. Social work is not only a profession but a commitment to standing alongside people during difficult times, promoting dignity and inclusion, and working toward positive social change.
At EQUALS, we are proud to support students who are developing the knowledge, compassion and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to society. Education plays an important role in preparing future practitioners who will empower individuals and strengthen communities.
To mark the day, there will be a number of free events, webinars and conferences highlighting the impact of the profession and bringing people together to reflect on the future of social work. You can explore some of these events here:
https://www.aasw.asn.au/world-social-work-day-events-2026/
We encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the values that brought you to this field and the difference you hope to make in the lives of others!
