Mawson Lakes School

Mawson Lakes School Mawson Lakes School consists of an Early Years campus on Site East (birth to 8 years of age), and a Primary campus (8 to 12 years of age) on Site West.

We have a unique feature being 'Dry' creek which runs between the two sites. The school began operating in January 2000, with 53 students and six staff, in shared facilities within the University of SA. Stage 1 of the school was completed in July 2003 and accommodated 475 students (R-7), 80 preschool children and 40 staff. The construction of Stage 2 of the Mawson Lakes School was completed in Jul

y 2007. Stage 2 provides integrated education and care services for children from birth to eight years of age and additional facilities for the expansion of the Primary section of the school. The new facilities increased the capacity of the school to more than 650 students and was planned to incorporate family, child and health support services. The Mawson Centre, the cultural, learning and community hub of the Mawson Lakes community opened in 2005. The Centre provides an array of services to UniSA, the community and school. Some of these services include library services and facilities for Mawson Lakes School students and the front-door administrative services for the Mawson Lakes School. By the end of 2007 the school operated from 3 different campuses.
• Site East on Garden Tce – the Early Childhood Campus - was home to 235 Junior Primary students, 80 Preschool children and 90 Child Care places;
• Site West on Yates St – the Primary Years Campus – was home to 330 Yr 3-7 students;
• The Mawson Centre – a joint facility owned by the UniSA, the City of Salisbury & DfE (Mawson Lakes School). Current enrolments (as of Jan 2021) are approx. 780 students across both Site East and West campuses, over 100 Preschoolers along with approx. 100 Child Care places.

📚✨ BOOK WEEK & SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR! ✨📚
We are excited to celebrate Book Week with a Scholastic Book Fair 📖💫 at Mawson Lakes School in Week 6 - 24th -28th Aug.

The Book Fair will be onsite for four days, giving students the chance to browse, create their wish lists and choose some fantastic new books to take home.

📝 WISH LISTS – Wednesday & Thursday (Week 6)
Students will have the opportunity to browse the Book Fair and complete a wish list with the books they would like to purchase. Wish lists will then be sent home for families.

🛍️ PURCHASING – Friday (Week 6) & Monday (Week 7)
Students can purchase books at school using their wish list. Cash purchases only for student purchasing at school.

👨‍👩‍👧 FAMILY SHOPPING
Families are also welcome to visit the Book Fair:

📅 Monday 1 September: 8:00am – 9:00am

💙 Every purchase helps support our school, with funds raised through the Book Fair helping us purchase more resources for our students.

EAST AND WEST KISS AND DROP ZONES CLOSED.

Unfortunately, due to overnight flooding of the bridge on The Strand, The Salisbury Council has closed The Strand with debris meaning both east and west kiss and drop zones will be closed this morning.

We are speaking with the council to have this area cleaned and reopened as soon as possible.

Please make alternate travel arrangements for drop off this morning if necessary.

It is with deep regret we have decided to cancel todays Sports Day. Update weather forecast predict high winds of 30-31km per hour all day, with wind gusts of 52-54km per hour. This is not considered safe for our children to run and play in, not for spectator, staff and volunteer safety.
Children can still come to school in their team colours and are welcome to bring some money to buy items from the bake sale which will be available in our Mobara rooms.
Children will be in classes for the day. Teachers will modify the day so children are engaged in other fun end of term learning activities. Dismissal for the end of term will remain at 2pm. Thank you for your understanding.
Canteen menu will proceed as normal with all preordered lunches still being provided. Thankfully this is not impacted by weather.
At this stage, another date is yet to be scheduled.

Please share this with your loved ones, friends and acquaintances. If we can make attending the correct Early Voting Centres easier, especially for the older population, that would be a great start. Hopefully then, they will not be angry & distressed about not being in the correct spot ❤️‍🩹
