🦋 Our Butterflies Have Hatched! 🦋

Our beautiful butterflies have officially hatched and been released into the world! 🌿✨

The children have loved being involved in the whole journey, from caring for and observing the butterflies while they were in their chrysalis stage, to the excitement of seeing them emerge as butterflies.

Once the butterflies had hatched, the children gathered together in a circle to have a closer look, observing their colours, wings and movements before it was time to release them.

This has been such a wonderful hands-on learning experience, allowing the children to explore the butterfly life cycle, nature and caring for living things. 🦋💚

During Book Week, we saw so many fabulous costumes and loved seeing the creativity and excitement from all the children!

On Friday, our Kindy children had the exciting opportunity to visit Oakbank School and participate in their school costume parade. We also held our very own Book Week parade at Mayfield Oakbank, giving the children the chance to proudly show their peers their amazing costumes. 🥰

It was a wonderful way to celebrate our love of books, stories, imagination and creativity. Thank you to all our families for helping make Book Week so much fun! 📖🌟

🌿 Building Gross Motor Skills in the Nursery 🌿

In our Nursery Room, the children have been busy building their gross motor skills through active outdoor play.

At Mayfield Oakbank, we thoughtfully set up our outdoor environment to allow children to move and explore freely, take safe risks, and challenge their growing abilities within a controlled and supervised environment.

Through climbing, crawling, balancing and exploring, the children are developing their coordination, balance, strength and confidence while learning through play. 💚

Last Thursday, our educators updated their CPR training! 🩹⛑️

Ongoing professional development is an important part of our commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for every child. Keeping our First Aid and CPR training up to date ensures our educators have the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond appropriately when first aid is needed.

📚 Book Week Reminder! 📚
Book Week is being celebrated from Saturday 22nd August to Friday 28th August.
Children are welcome to come dressed as their favourite book character on every day they attend during Book Week – we'd love to see all of their wonderful costumes!
To finish off the week, we'll be holding a Book Week Costume Parade on Friday 28th August at 10:40 am, where the children will have the opportunity to show off their amazing costumes.

Lately, the children have been exploring imaginative play using simple materials such as LEGO and sticks. 🪵🧱✨

On a cold day, the children used their creativity to build a pretend campfire, imagining they were sitting around the fire to keep warm. 🔥

This experience encouraged the children to use their imagination, creativity and problem-solving skills, while also supporting communication and cooperation as they shared their ideas and played together.

It was wonderful to see how something as simple as LEGO and sticks could inspire such creative play! 💛

🦋 The Butterflies Have Arrived! 🦋

After seeing how engaged and interested the children were during our Henny Penny chicken experience, we wanted to introduce another exciting life cycle into our centre.

We have now welcomed our chrysalises, and over the coming weeks the children will have the opportunity to observe and learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. 🐛➡️🦋

The children will be able to watch the changes that occur, build their understanding of nature and living things, and develop their curiosity through real-life, hands-on learning. 🌿✨

We are so excited to watch our butterflies emerge and eventually release them into the wild! 🦋💛
