Two children adapted their roles during open-ended-play- one carefully digging and providing sand, while the other prepared and positioned the bucket, ready to be turned and shaped!

⚽ National Simultaneous Storytime Day 2026!

Today, we acknowledge the Australia-wide event, organised by the Australian Library and Information Association.

This year, we follow 'Luna Roo', a spirited kangaroo who loves soccer and faces the challenges as she chases her sporting dreams. Themes highlight teamwork, resilience, movement and fun! 🏵️👇

Why do we participate? For all children to connect together, the same story, the same time, across all school and early learning Centres. To further their love for storytelling.

Here, the book was returned outside, whilst reading we heard the following "hey! Do you want to play kick with me?" Across our outdoor space.

A special moment of connection and imagination during our day 🏵️

After reading 'Mindful Moo' by Davina Rankin, two of our children chose to revisit the story together, reading aloud, performing the actions, and caring for their baby dolls nearby as they "fell asleep".

The story encourages children to slow down, be present, and explore mindfulness and emotional awareness through storytelling.

🧡 Experiences like these support language development, confidence, creativity and social connection through meaningful child-led play.

Recently our preschool children explored a 'bubble making experience' which required whisks to mix and create.

Our Kindergarten inquiry of frogs has continued!
