SLIP-MATCHING vs BOOK-MATCHING One of the most common questions we get in our industry is slip-matched vs book-matched veneer - what looks best? And the answer can change depending on what veneer you use.
SLIP-MATCHING is a process in which successive leaves of veneer are ‘slipped’ along side one another. This results in a series of grain repeats on a sheet.
Slip-Matching is common in species like Tasmanian Oak, and Jarrah.
BOOK-MATCHING is our most commonly used method - where leaves of veneer are turned over like pages of a book. This results in a series of paired leaves within a sheet.
Book-Matching is common among all veneers and is best featured in Crown-Cut veneer
