Join acclaimed performer and director Hew Parham for five joyful hours exploring the rich and unpredictable world of theatrical clown at TabHu acting school.

Drawing on the Pochinko Clown Method, this workshop invites participants to explore play, imagination, vulnerability, and audience connection through games, improvisation, physical exercises, and clown techniques.

Clown is an art of presence. It invites us to listen deeply, play wholeheartedly, and respond to what is happening in the moment. By letting go of the need to be right, we discover that mistakes, surprises, and vulnerability can become our most engaging and truthful moments on stage.

Workshop techniques include:
• Pochinko Clown Method
• Physical play and improvisation
• Audience connection
• Status and vulnerability
• Ensemble awareness
• Creative failure and spontaneity

Whether you're an actor, performer, teacher, or simply curious about clowning, this workshop offers a welcoming space to experiment, take risks, and reconnect with the joy of play.

Katie Cawthorne is back by popular demand at TabHu to propose and expand her workshop on Viewpoints.
Viewpoints is a theatre methodology based heavily in improvisation. Developed by practitioners Anne Bogart and Tina Landau, it is used in performance for ensemble building, actor training and performance composition. Katie Cawthorne is a NIDA trained director and theatre-maker who utilises this system in her own practice to anchor performers in their own truth, develop a strong sense of ensemble and build image based performance. This workshop will give performers a taste of this practice, encouraging them to explore impulse as a way to build connection in training to feed into their performance.

TabHu acting School workshop with David Mealor, founder of Brink Production and artistic director of Flying Penguins Productions on Script Analysis.
The script is one of the most important tools for understanding and shaping performance. It functions as a roadmap for the creative process, offering a series of clues that invite interpretation, investigation, and discovery. Within any text lies a rich range of information—about character, intention, relationship, and action—that must be carefully identified and explored through attentive reading and analysis.
This workshop focuses on textual analysis and exploration through scene study, examining how close engagement with the text reveals meaningful insights. It then considers how these discoveries support actors in making informed, creative choices as rehearsals begin, enabling the development of truthful, grounded performances and fully realised characters.
10 Thursdays starting July 23rd, 7 to 9 pm at
