Each AMIGA centre will be hosting special events for our families, uniting our efforts to help end homelessness. 🏠✨

🌍 Earth Hour Celebration ! 🌿

Yesterday, Amiga Montessori Cranbourne West participated in Earth Hour from 10 to 11 AM by turning off all the lights and unplugging possible electrical outlets. 🌱

The kitchen team joined in by switching off the lights and opening the blinds to make the most of natural daylight. 🌞

The children and educators gathered for a special group time in the dark, where they had a thoughtful discussion about the importance of Earth Hour and how we can all help protect our planet. 🌎

A huge thank you to all the children and educators for their enthusiasm and participation in this meaningful event!

It’s through our collective efforts that we can make a difference. 💡

Today, we had a delightful Pancake Day celebration filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and delicious treats! Our talented chef, Charanjeet, led an engaging cooking experience with the children, where they explored different ingredients and learned about various recipes.

The children were excited to take part in the process, from mixing the batter to observing the pancakes cook to perfection. Charanjeet encouraged discussions about the ingredients, sparking curiosity about different recipes and cooking techniques. The experience not only enhanced their understanding of food preparation but also fostered a sense of collaboration and joy in the kitchen.

It was wonderful to see the children actively engaged, asking thoughtful questions, and expressing their interest in learning more about cooking. The session ended on a sweet note as everyone enjoyed the delicious pancakes they helped create!

This month our educators at AMIGA Burwood have been focusing on creating a sense of security and belonging in our rooms for our children as they transitioned to their new learning environments. Educators and children used natural materials from our community to create family trees for children’s photos. A strong sense of belonging in their environment supports children to engage more fully in our programs.

Matching shapes to their outline with our Nest room. This Montessori activity provides key benefits such as cognitive development, fine motor skills and problem solving skills. It also promotes early understanding of shape recognition and spatial awareness.

Our young explorers embarked on an exciting nature walk as part of our Bush Kinder program at AMIGA Montessori Saltwater Coast. The children delighted in wandering through the vibrant bush, where every step revealed a new discovery—from uniquely textured leaves to smooth, weathered stones. This outdoor adventure not only provided a fun-filled escape into nature but also offered valuable lessons in observation and environmental stewardship, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Chinese New Year Celebrations at Amiga Montessori Tarneit

At Amiga Montessori Tarneit, we welcomed the Year of the Snake with exciting hands-on activities, cultural discussions, and a delicious festive meal.

Children learned to say “Gong Xi Fa Cai” ( Good Fortune Be With You) and explored the festival through art and practical experiences. Younger children made playdough and paper snakes, while Cycle One students practiced scissor skills to create lanterns, dragons, and snakes. Some painted their own snakes outdoors, showcasing their creativity.

To enhance their fine motor skills, children practiced using chopsticks to pick up noodles, and teachers introduced them to Lunar New Year traditions across different countries. We ended the celebration with a delicious meal of stir-fry wok noodles, bringing the cultural experience full circle.

This joyful celebration not only encouraged creativity but also deepened the children’s appreciation for diverse traditions. Gong Xi Fa Cai! Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Lunar New Year!
