School holidays are almost here!! Open Studio Art school is excited to offer some creative classes to keep kids busy these January school holidays. There is a two session clay sculpture class, a manga/anime drawing , pet portrait drawing class, as well as an introduction to printmaking - a follow on from our very successful printmaking explorations this term. Thankyou to everyone who attended the Introduction to Portaiture short course! It’s undeniably one of the most challenging subjects to tackle, and you all did so well building your structure and mapping in your features. I can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

EVER WANTED TO TRY DRAWING A PORTRAIT BUT DIDN’T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN? Noah’s Art School is excited to offer a short course in portrait drawing- the first of our new adult short courses. The course will run for two weeks and is aimed at introducing students to the fundamentals of portrait drawing.
This course is suitable for beginners or those wanting to brush up on their skills. Numbers are limited. For more information, or to book, message us or email [email protected]

A classroom exercise designed to reinforce why it's great to build your skills and understanding of what things look like through using references. The more you study an object/subject. the better your ability will be to recall it when you want to draw from memory.
These students were first asked to draw a horse from memory.
They were then taken through four steps to create a horse head using a reference. Unfortunately we ran out of time in the class to fully complete the exercise but the results speak for themselves.
An extension to this exercise would be to have the kids draw a horse again from their memory , now that they have studied more closely from a reference - then compare the first memory drawing to the last .
These students range in age from 8 to 13.

A big thankyou to Lily and her friends for celebrating her birthday at Noah's Art School today. The birthday girl's favorite animal, the alpaca was chosen as the subject of these terrific artworks - amazing job everybody!!!!!
