🌱 Please remember to check for the compostable logo on packaging before placing into your kitchen caddy or green-lid FOGO bin.

⚠️ Gas bottles and butane gas canisters can explode under pressure, making them a safety and fire hazard and don’t belong in any bin.

✅ Both of NAWMA's Resource Recovery Centres accept gas bottles (up to 9kg) for free and safe disposal.

✅ Butane canisters can be dropped off free of charge at the Edinburgh North Resource Recovery Centre.

🚫 Soft plastics are one of the biggest contaminants found incorrectly placed into the kerbside recycling bin.

👎 When these come to our Material Recovery Facility, they get caught in machinery and contaminate the paper and cardboard we are trying to recover and sort for recycling.

✅ Please remember to keep your recyclables loose and free from soft plastic so they can be sorted correctly, and this will prevent resources ending up in landfill.

♻ You can now take your clean and dry soft plastics to your nearest Woolworths store to be recycled into new products such as building materials and food grade packaging.

Before you bin your old flowers, make sure you are placing them into the right bin!

All flower stems and petals belong in the green-lid bin, these will be turned into valuable compost that will help improve soil.

Any plastic wrapping, floral foam or sticky tape should be placed into your red-lid bin.

Keep any ribbons or bows to reuse on gifts or craft projects.

🤔 Did you know that it is illegal to put electronic waste into any kerbside bin?

📺 Electronic waste or e-waste contains both hazardous materials and valuable resources that can be recovered and reused. Recycling e-waste helps reduce the need for raw materials and keeps harmful items out of landfill and the environment.

👉 Both of NAWMA's Resource Recovery Centres accept e-waste free of charge. Find your nearest drop-off point here: http://bit.ly/47QShxT

❎ Batteries and items with embedded batteries should never go in any bin. This is because they can get crushed inside collection trucks or run over by heavy equipment at our facilities. When batteries are damaged like this, they can leach toxic chemicals into our environment and start fires just like the recent fire shown in the video, which started on one of our sorting lines.

✅ Safely dispose of batteries by dropping them off at one of our Resource Recovery Centres or your closest battery collection point.
