Today, we were delighted to welcome KUDOS to deliver our Mealtime Support Program, aligned with the Flying Start Program.
Today’s session focused on creating teddy bear faces using bread, four delicious flavoured jams freshly prepared by our Chef, along with bananas and blueberries. The children were invited to explore the ingredients and use them to create their own teddy bear faces.
Importantly, the focus of the program is not on the finished product, but on the process of exploring and engaging with food. Children were not expected to create a teddy bear face if they chose not to. Instead, they were encouraged to participate in ways that felt comfortable for them and to explore the foods at their own pace.
Throughout the session, the children had opportunities to engage their senses, exploring different colours, smells, flavours and textures. These experiences support children to develop autonomy, build confidence around food, and increase their exposure to a variety of flavours and textures in a relaxed and positive environment.
Each KUDOS Mealtime Support Program session also has a targeted message, which is shared through a poster resource for educators and families to continue the conversation beyond the session.
It was wonderful to see the children enjoying this hands-on experience in the Piazza today, following their curiosity and engaging with food in their own unique ways. 💛
A beautiful way to start our Friday! 🌟
