š¤ Mistake #1: Relying too much on the routine. Yes, structure helps but no schedule can outdo biology or emotional regulation. Flexibility is your best friend.
š Mistake #2: Focusing only on behaviour. Itās not just about how long a child cries or how fast they fall asleep. Itās about why theyāre struggling in the first place; nervous system, feeding, environment, connectionā¦it all matters.
š¶ Mistake #3: Forgetting the parent. We support the whole family system, not just the child. Emotional connection and parental confidence are everything.
š§ Mistake #4: Skipping the root cause work.āØWhen you learn to see beyond sleep schedules and into physiology, sensory needs, and emotional safety, thatās when you evolve from sleep trainer to sleep specialist.
If youāre a new (or soon-to-be) consultant, save this post as a reminder and know that the real growth happens when you stay curious, compassionate, and evidence-informed. š

šŖ¶ Post a photo or reel of a calm nursery setup and talk about how the environment affects sleep quality (darkness, temp, noise, etc).

Most sleep consultants offer phone and email consultations. Donāt get me wrongā¦Iām not criticising this at all. Thereās absolutely nothing wrong with supporting families virtually (I do it too, and it works beautifully!).
But⦠if youāre not offering in-home consultations, you might be missing out. And so could your clients.
Because hereās the truth:āØ
In-home consultations are invaluable. They give you the chance to see sleep struggles as they actually happen, in real-time, in the childās real sleep space. And that perspective can change everything for both you and the families you support.
š” Families often (accidentally!) leave out little details on forms or during calls⦠but when youāre right there, you can see it all.āØš” You can tweak the plan on the spot depending on how the little one is respondingāno waiting until the next check-in.āØš” Parents feel reassured when they watch you respond in real-time, and it gives them confidence to keep going long after youāve left.āØš” You can offer flexible support: just naps, bedtime only, or even a full overnight stayāwhatever suits your business and lifestyle.āØš” The trust and connection you build with families in their own homes is powerfulāitās something you simply canāt replicate through a screen.
š Do you offer in-home consultations?

Discovery calls arenāt just admin.
Theyāre a window into you...your energy, your confidence, your services.
Most families will reach out to multiple sleep consultants before choosing who to work with.ā ļæ½Theyāre not just looking for someone with knowledgeā¦theyāre looking for someone who gets them, makes them feel safe, and shows up with confidence.ā ļæ½ā ļæ½So, if your discovery calls feel a little awkward, uncertain, or like you're giving away all your best tips for freeā¦you're probably leaving bookings on the table.ā
š Bottom line! The issue isnāt your expertise or knowledge.
It could be down to the way youāre delivering these initial phone calls.
These discovery calls are your opportunity to turn an interested client into a paying client.
You want to make the most out of this warm lead and there are some steps you can take to ensure that you have a higher chance to turning this discovery call into an actual client.
ā The 3 things I recommend to support discovery calls are:
š Discovery Call Script - knowing what to say and when is the first step
š Email to confirm their upcoming call, but also a follow up email to recap your services and how you can help
š Being prepared for common objections and knowing how to respond with success
Do you want to take the guess work out of discovery calls so you have all the areas ticked to make them a successful conversion?
I have it all packed into a Discovery Call Script Pack.
This contains common objections and how you can reply to them, pre-discovery call with client questionnaire and post-discovery call email templates!
Whether youāre new or scaling, this pack helps you stand out in those crucial first impressions and guide warm leads into paying clients.ā

⨠Another Sleep Consultant Joins the Industry āØ
I am so proud to welcome and celebrate our newest graduate from the Infant and Child Sleep Consultant Certification - Emma Lewer from
Emma has completed her training with dedication, compassion, and a true passion for helping families find rest, rhythm, and connection through sleep support. Sheāll be making an incredible impact, and I canāt wait to see her journey unfold!
Hear what Emma had to say about her personal journey, and experience studying at .sleepconsultanteducation:
"Before becoming a parent, I never imagined how deeply challenging sleep could be. I found myself consumed by it ā or rather, by the lack of it! I was constantly searching for answers in books, blogs, conversations and analysing every part of our day, desperate for something that would help.
When I couldnāt find what I needed, I knew I had to truly understand sleep ā not just for myself, but for my baby. That journey led me to study it. Shereenās course stood out for a few reasons; it was affordable, very detailed and from the moment we spoke, I got a good feeling about Shereen. I was right, she became a supportive mentor who helped me find clarity, build confidence and trust my instincts. Her approach shaped how I now hope to support families ā with empathy, understanding and respect. I gained more than a certification, I gained insight, perspective and a whole new outlook on sleep. And now, Iām here to pass that on."
