We have some amazing members! Thanks Jenny Rossiter for you article (Oct Newsletter): "U3A member, Cherie Dempsey, has recently been selected to represent Australia at the Masters Athletics Championships in South Korea in 2027. Cherie has been playing sport all her life – mainly netball, tennis and basketball (plus U3A pickleball). She began Masters Athletics in 1994. Earlier this year she competed at the National Masters here in Adelaide in six events. She qualified in three of the events to represent Australia.
She will be competing in the pentathlon, the weight throw (5.45 kg)
and the hammer throw (3Kg) in the 75 – 80-year-old age group.
Her motto is “Never Give Up” and “Keep on Going”. Congratulations to Cherie. She will do Australia proud. " Photo of Cherie Dempsey below from SA Masters Facebook site:

Spread the word (and the Facebook post) about U3A Inner North Showcase of its activities for Adult Learners' Week open to the general public over 55 years of age and retired. on September 5 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm at Enfield Community Centre,540 Regency Road, Enfield. Come and meet the tutors and group leaders, to find out more about their programs and workshops…languages, book clubs, art, mahjong, armchair travel, history, guest speakers, film groups, computers, current affairs, art appreciation and more…….Members will be showcasing and celebrating their newly learnt skills though craft, mosaic, art and photography exhibits; ukulele, drama, singing, tapdancing and circle dancing performances; canasta and mahjong demonstrations and come and try pickleball and table tennis activities. The venue is wheelchair accessible. My choice Chunky Pot Pie when Inner North group The Wanderers visited nearby Ann Newmarch gallery at Prospect Council and wandered down to Cafe Komodo for lunch. Comments from my table were very complimentary about the menu! Thank you Carolyn for arranging the outing!

Members are warmly invited to our Mid Year Social Event on Thursday 17th July from 10am to 12 noon, in the Hall at Enfield Community Centre. Come along, chat with other U3A Inner North
members and enjoy morning tea. Essential you let us know you are attending by Friday 11th July (email: [email protected] or text Trish on 0409 692 815 with your name). We need to know for catering and so we do not exceed the room capacity. Please wear your name badge and bring along your own cup.
