As a teacher, I always look forward to the joy that Ginger, our elf, brings to the classroom during the holidays! 🎄✨

Her mischievous ways never fail to brighten our days, making the countdown to Christmas even more exciting. 🧝‍♀️🎉

What about your classroom elves? I’d love to hear how your elves have spread Christmas cheer and magic in your classrooms this year! Drop a comment below! 🎄✨

Father’s Day 2024 👔

Yesterday, we celebrated all the incredible fathers, grandfathers, uncles, stepdads, and father figures in our lives.

My boys made the cutest ties for their dads and male role models last week, and I couldn’t help but laugh (and maybe shed a tear) reading the heartfelt messages they included.

Check them out! Swipe ⬅️ ✨

P.S. To all the mums, grandmas, aunties, stepmums and mother figures out there, you’ve done well! I was very impressed by the boys’ attention to detail and ability to colour coordinate the colours and patterns in their ties. You’d be so proud 😂

Class is a blast in 3 Purple! 🚀

My boys LOVED this hands-on QAR (Question-Answer Relationship) activity!

Instead of answering questions in their books, we mixed things up and the boys worked in groups to sort questions according to their type: Right There, Think and Search, Author and Me, and On My Own. 📕

The boys enjoyed the interactive approach, and the opportunity to discuss why each question fit into its category. 💬

We wrapped up our lesson by discussing our choices and tackling the questions together.

The energy was high, and the learning was on point! 🎉

Hands-on activities like this not only keep the boys engaged but also deepen their understanding of how to approach and answer different types of questions.

It’s important to remember, when we make learning interactive, it’s not just fun—it’s memorable. ✨

🚨🚨🚨…..Book Week is sneaking up on us.

Time to get those costumes ready, teachers! 📚✨

This year’s theme is ‘Reading is Magic.’ What enchanting character will you be transforming into? Let me know in the comments below! 👇🏼

Last year, my team and I rocked animal-themed costumes- they were the perfect complement to our learning in class about Information Reports. Can we take a moment for my adorable jellyfish creation? I had so much fun making it🪼

Better late than never 🫣

I am thrilled to announce that this term, I’ve been living my dream…………working at an all boys school! 🌟

It’s been an incredible experience so far and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many incredible leaders, educators and ESOs supporting, empowering and inspiring young boys to dream big and reach for the stars.

Here’s to embracing new experiences and aiming high this year 🚀💫

AUTHOR STUDY 📚

Last year we were very lucky to have Phil Cummings visit our school during our unit of work on Narratives.

Phil Cummings was very entertaining and spoke to us about his journey as a writer and what is involved in planning, drafting and writing books.

‘Ride, Ricardo, Ride!’ was one of our favourite books. We spoke about how ‘Ride, Ricardo, Ride!’ is an example of alliteration, where every word starts with the same letter or sound. We reread the book and identified alliterative phrases throughout.

Once we finished rereading the book, I invited my students to use alliteration in a sentence containing their name. They did an incredible job and I really wish I’d taken more photos. Swipe to see one of my students’ sentences ⭐️

‘Chase cooks chicken nuggets and chases cheetahs in China’

Have you checked in today?

Each morning my Year 3s work through their morning to-do list; this includes popping their face into one of the four columns.

Throughout the morning, as the students work, I make it my mission to check in with students who fall outside of the ‘Green Zone’- the zone that indicates they are feeling happy/content and ready to learn.

By doing so, I am able to address anything that may be bothering my students or hindering their ability to be present in the moment, happy and learning.

How do you check-in with your students?

3CC’s Class Promise🤞

The students of 3CC were asked to think about what they wanted their classroom to look, sound and feel like. The students wrote their responses on different coloured sticky notes and stuck these on the y-chart provided. Following this, the students were split into three groups and asked to sort through the sticky notes in order to highlight the key words. These words were then written on the board and used to write our class promise. The students were prompted with some helpful sentence starters but the wording came from their hearts. The Year 3s understand that actions speak louder than words and aim to conduct themselves in a way that aligns with our class promise.

A big thank you to for providing our team with an example of one of her class promises’ - this definitely helped when it came to providing the Year 3s with some helpful sentence starters.

Our Class Promise has been copied into our Morning PowerPoint and will be revised daily in Term 1.
