Celebrating Spike on World Turtle Day 🌎🐢

Recently, we celebrated World Turtle Day at Seeds Montessori with our wonderful classroom pet, Spike the turtle.

The children enjoyed learning more about turtles through stories, discussions, and hands-on activities while caring for Spike along the way. 🌱

Experiences like these help children build empathy, responsibility, and a connection to the natural worlds!

Literacy Matching Activity! 🌿

This particular activity helps children make connections between images, objects and letter sounds through hands-on learning.

As they match figures and pictures, they reinforce the relevant Jolly Phonics sounds that they have been learning; further expanding their vocabulary!

📍Jolly Phonics is an engaging, multisensory program that helps children learn letter sounds, develop early reading skills, and build confidence in literacy! 📚

Messy Play Magic 🎨 - what is messy art?

Our kindergarten children explored immersive, colourful, sensory-rich art through painting and messy play. While it began as a colour missing opportunity with brushes, hands became way more useful! And a fully immersive experience!

This week at Seeds Montessori, one of our kindergarten rooms explored an art concept using real flowers as part of their current learning inquiry. ✳️🌻

In this moment, a child sat deeply in thought, carefully considering the question: "what flowers do you see in the flowers?" After a pause of reflection, they clearly responded - "yellow" - showing their quiet concentration and meaningful processing that comes through hands-on, real-world exploration.
