How I dress in the holidays vs how I dress for Back to School!

I like to be comfy and chilled in the holidays if I need to come to school, it's nice to be able to be casual on your days off, don't you think? Also I love wearing my fav outfits for Back to School to get me in a good mood for teaching! Welcome back to term 2 everyone! Hope you had an awesome day!!!

Meet our new class member!
I can't wait for my students to meet our new class member tomorrow, this cute little penguin, otherwise known as our class pet. We will be using our furry friend as a take home activity to reinforce recount writing and it doubles as daily oral language learning. The penguin is from Australia too, so cute! Bring on term 2 I say!

Living in the moment

While on break with my family, we took the time to explore and be still in our glorious natural landscape. I love watching my kids explore and find their own fun, no screens required just rocks, water and hills!

Loving where you live!
We visited Blowhole Beach on our recent trip to Victor Harbour and wow what a view. Such beautiful coastline and landscapes to discover in our own backyard. Have you taken time this holidays to visit somewhere new in SA?

Family fun!
It has been so great to take some time to be present and enjoy family time this holidays. Having new experiences together and no technology required. We went cockling at Goolwa beach and the kids and adults had so much fun! Have you had a chance to get outdoors?

School Holidays!

In the busyness of getting ready for a new class, I wanted to make sure I found time to have fun with my kids. I love getting to do things as a family, so my kids know I am not just a teacher, I am mum too!

Taking time out for my family! With all the busyness of a political campaign it has been so important for me to take the time to take a breath, relax and have fun with my family. So why not visit the beach after school on a hot day!

I was fun Mum today! Hope you all find a moment to enjoy the people closest to you! You deserve it!!!

Busy busy times in my family!

I know that i have been a little silent lately but part of living the family life is being there for them when they need you. So priority 1 for me right now has been supporting my husband in his election campaign.

Thanks to this I now know a lot about
*current political issues
*how to put up corflutes
*am professional at flyer distribution
*have an understanding of how political campaigns run.

Only 9 more days to go till polling day is over and family time can resume.

Here's to all the right hand ladies out there! You are awesome!!!!

If you can't beat them join them! Nothing like turning your students favourite fidget into a learning opportunity. These cards are easy to cut and laminate ready for morning activities, literacy rotations or as a fast finisher reward activity. I love the pastel colours and the students will love that you are encouraging then to use the pop its in class!

Being mindful in the classroom has been an evolving concept for me in the last few years. Last year I added a yoga space to my room as part of interoception and sensory regulation tools for my students. They loved using it on their own and as part of whole class activity.

I also started doing quick yoga breaks during the day to help refocus wriggly students and teach them how to connect their mind and body ready for learning!

Some Ways to use yoga include
🌬 whole class brain break
🌬sensory break for unsettled students
🌬calm space activity for emotional regulation

I have even created my own matching yoga posters and break cards to make it easy to get started. The link to my TPT are in the comments!!!

As part of my calm down space this year I have introduced a yoga zone linking to some Mindfulness strategies and sensory regulation needs within my class.

I use it every morning as a regulation activity to help students be ready for learning and doing the day for students to reset and recharge and stay focussed!

Do you use yoga as part of your classroom management strategy. Would love some other ideas of how to use the space!!!
