Bringing together the work of seven Aboriginal women artists from regional South Australia, Saltbush Country shares stories of culture, community and connection to Country through contemporary works that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.

For those who haven't yet experienced the exhibition, this is the last opportunity to see this extraordinary body of work before the regional tour concludes.

Country Arts SA’s free community event series Nature Studio returns in 2026, forming part of the state’s Nature Festival official program for the first time.

From Burra to Warooka, Whyalla, Port Lincoln and Naracoorte, Country Arts SA’s arts and cultural facilitators invite people of all ages and abilities to celebrate their local landscapes through art on Saturday, 10 October.

Working alongside experienced local artist mentors, participants are invited to bring along drawing materials, painting equipment, cameras or tablets to create a unique piece of art which responds to their environment and connection to place.

Country Arts SA, Music SA and Whyalla City Council, we are exploring new ways to support the music industry in Whyalla.

As a first step, MusicSA CEO Christine Schloithe and music industry professional Anita Decoster will visit Whyalla to meet local artists, venues, event organisers and others involved in music. The visit is about understanding what already exists locally, hearing from the people doing the work, and identifying where future skills development, mentoring and industry support could have the greatest impact.

25 – 26 September 2026

A powerful collaboration brings together State Theatre Company’s Blak State initiative and Adelaide Festival Centre’s inSPACE program. Through this partnership, artists Jacob Boehme (Narungga/Kaurna), Natalie Harkin (Narungga) and Tracey Rigney (Ngaririndjeri/Wotjobaluk) explore ways of developing works for stage drawn from personal, family and local histories.

This two-day creative workshop invites First Nations participants to explore how personal, family and local histories can become powerful works for the stage.

Finite Bounty continues its regional South Australian tour with a presentation at Kapunda Community Gallery from 5 September to 25 October 2026.

In this exhibition, Adelaide artist Dan Withey explores animism through a world filled with curious characters, lively landscapes and unexpected encounters. His paintings blur the lines between people, animals, plants and objects, imagining a world where everything is connected.

Featuring vibrant colour, expressive brushwork and detailed patterns, Finite Bounty reflects a new direction in Withey's practice while maintaining the playful imagination and humour that define his work.

These themes have shaped artist Chris De Rosa's career and are central to the commissioned artwork she created for Country Arts SA's Strategic Plan 2026–2028.

In our latest artist profile, Chris reflects on her journey from nursing to a career in the arts, her connection to the Fleurieu Peninsula coastline, and the inspiration behind Amphibolis C Nymphs.

The work explores the relationship between people and the natural world through the story of three cross generational women tending to the sea. Inspired by mythology, ecology and community care, the artwork is a powerful reflection on our responsibility to nurture the places that sustain us.

Country Arts SA is pleased to announce Port Willunga sculpture artist Sarra Tzijan as the latest recipient of our Grindell's Hut Artist Residency in the Flinders Ranges.

The annual residency supports an artist to be immersed in their practice for three weeks in the breathtaking Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park – with no phone or internet access!

Sarra intends to use the opportunity to connect with the Nepabunna community, create new adornment (worn accessories and ornaments) work, and hold a metal-crafting session for locals.

Congratulations Sarra!
