Read the blog to find out everything you need to know about pregnancy and oral health. Some things may surprise you!

What you need to know about Pregnancy and Oral Health So you're expecting, firstly congratulations! This is a very exciting and equally overwhelming time. As anyone who has been pregnant before knows, this 9-month journey can be a time where an overload of information gets thrown your way. You're probably all over it, what to eat, what not to eat, how....

PRODUCT WE RECOMMEND TO OUR PATIENTS 🦷👀

Tooth Mousse is a tooth creme that we like to compare to a hair mask! You can use it 1-2 times a week as an adjunct to your oral hygiene routine.

Tooth Mousse is a product that combines calcium and phosphate that protects your teeth from acid attack (both acid from decay and diet/environment).
Tooth Mousse PLUS also has 900ppm fluoride.

We recommend Tooth Mousse (fluoride free) for people who want a fluoride free alternative and for children younger than 6 who need extra protection for their teeth if they have high decay rates/possibility.

We also recommend this product a lot for pregnant women!
Why..? Because it is important to protect your teeth from acid such as reflux (morning sickness) or those sugary cravings.. If you are someone who experiences toothpaste/brushing aversions this is also a product we would recommend trying as it actually taste delicious!
And let’s not forget those who are just generally exhausted and the thought of getting out of bed to brush your teeth is a nightmare…

How to use it?
Rub a pea size amount of the creme on to your teeth and try to leave it on for 10-15 minutes without rinsing with any water.

You can find it at Woolworths and most chemist.

If you want to know more feel free to DM us or ask your dental professional at your next visit 😁

World Cavity Free Future Day 🦷

We believe through education and prevention we can see a decay free future. Decay is a preventable disease and there are things we can do to decrease our own and our children’s risk.

• Be Aware of Bacteria
the bacteria in our mouth is what gets transferred on to our children. It is not “bad teeth genetics” but rather the “bad bacteria” you pass on to your children. You can prevent this from occurring by looking after your own oral health and limiting bacterial transfer. Pretty cool we have the ability to affect even our unborn child’s oral health? It starts with you!

• Behaviour- Tell, Show, DO!!
don’t just tell your children what to do, demonstrate it! This includes the way you perceive or talk about the dentist. How do you expect your children to prioritise and respect their oral health if you don’t?

• Fluoride is our Friend
we have many post about fluoride and could harp on for days. But the reality is fluoride is our number one tool in decreasing decay risk. It is safe to use fluoride from the start of tooth eruption, just make sure it’s age appropriate.

• DIET
yes we all know limiting sugar is good for our oral and over all health.. but do you take it seriously? And are you aware of all the hidden sugars in some foods that we deem “healthy”.
If you are unsure about diet, an oral health professional can talk through it with you and might even uncover some things you weren’t aware of.
