St Columba's Primary School, Adamstown

Year 6 enjoyed the opportunity to meet and talk with Sharon Claydon MP during their visit to Parliament House this week.

It was a pleasure to welcome students and staff from St Columba's Primary School, Adamstown to Parliament House this week.

I always enjoy meeting young people who are curious about how our democracy works and eager to learn about the role they can play in shaping Australia's future.

Thank you to the wonderful students and teachers for taking the time to visit. I hope your trip to Canberra was a memorable one.

Year 6 Canberra Excursion DAY 2!

What a fantastic second day in Canberra! Students explored the Australian Institute of Sport, enjoyed time at the National Arboretum’s Pod Playground and visited Parliament House, where they took part in their own mock session of Parliament before touring the Senate and the House of Representatives.

After taking in the stunning views from Mount Ainslie Lookout, we visited the Australian War Memorial to reflect on the service and sacrifice of Australia’s servicemen and women. We finished the day with another delicious dinner, a disco party bus and plenty of fun at Holey Moley! Another memorable day of learning and adventure!

In Science, Year 2 students have been learning about sustainability and how we can care for our environment. This week, they put their knowledge into action by creating sustainable farm dioramas, showcasing their creativity and understanding of environmentally friendly practices. Well done Year 2!

A friendly reminder that next Monday we will come together to celebrate Mrs Walsh and her wonderful contribution to our school community.

Year 6 Canberra Excursion DAY 1!

After an early morning bus trip, we arrived feeling ready to explore Canberra. Students enjoyed a guided embassy tour before visiting Government House, where they had the exciting opportunity to meet Sam Mostyn, the Governor General of Australia!

We then stepped back in time at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, where students experienced what it was like to sit in the Senate chamber. At the Electoral Education Centre, they learnt about Australia’s preferential voting system.

To finish off everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner of chicken schnitzel followed by sticky date pudding for dessert.

Year 1 had lots of fun in Science today designing and making a boat to hold at least 2 marbles.
