💛 R U OK? DAY 💛

The Murri School will be recognising R U OK? Day on Friday, 18 September – the last day of Term 3.

It’s an important reminder to check in with our mob, family, friends and those around us. Sometimes a simple yarn and asking “Are you OK?” can make a big difference.

While R U OK? Day gives us an opportunity to come together, we also know that checking in shouldn’t happen just once a year – every day can be R U OK? Day.

🦁 THANK YOU BRISBANE LIONS 🦁

A big thank you to the Brisbane Lions for giving The Murri School the opportunity to be part of the Community BBQ at Brighton Homes Arena over the weekend.

Our staff and students rolled up their sleeves to cook and serve at the BBQ, raising much-needed funds towards our 2026 Senior Formal.

Opportunities like this make a real difference and help us give our senior students a special celebration to mark the end of their schooling journey.

A huge thank you to the Brisbane Lions for continuing to support The Murri School and our young people, and to our wonderful staff and students who gave up their Saturday evening to help out.

👀 And while we’ve got your attention...would you like to donate towards our Senior Formal 🤔

Every little bit helps us make the night a special one for our graduating students.

📞 Give our School Office a call on (07) 3255 6133 if you’d like to support our Seniors ✨

☕️ MEET CUPPADERLAH ☕️

We’re very proud to officially unveil Cuppaderlah — The Murri School’s very own coffee cart!

Cuppaderlah was made possible after The Murri School was a successful recipient of the Queensland Country Bank Good for Good Community Grant, providing us with the opportunity to create a hands-on learning experience for our students.

More than just a coffee cart, Cuppaderlah will give our students the opportunity to develop practical hospitality skills, gain real-world experience and build confidence while putting their learning into practice.

A huge thank you to Queensland Country Bank for proudly supporting this initiative and investing in opportunities for our young people.

We also extend a very special thank you to Aunty Sam Bond, who provided the beautiful artwork featured on Cuppaderlah. Her artwork tells the story of The Murri School, Country and our connection to water, land and community, making Cuppaderlah uniquely ours.

And a big thank you to our Elders, community members, families and friends who joined us for the official launch. It was wonderful to have so many of our Murri School community there to celebrate this special occasion with us.

We are incredibly proud to see Cuppaderlah come to life and can’t wait to see our students behind the cart, learning new skills and serving up a deadly cuppa ☕️☕️

📚 INDIGENOUS LITERACY DAY 2026 📚

We love reading here at The Murri School and today we celebrate Indigenous Literacy Day.

This year’s theme, Country Is Our Teacher, reminds us that some of our greatest lessons come from Country, culture and the stories passed down through generations.

📚 BOOK WEEK | SPECIAL GUEST 📚

The Murri School was lucky to have a special visit from our good friend Mr Kevin from Riverbend Books as part of our Book Week celebrations.

Mr Kevin spent some time with our Prep to Grade 2 students, reading 'Back on Country' by Adam Goodes and Ellie Laing.

He also brought along some wonderful new books for our school library for everyone to share and enjoy.

To thank Mr Kevin for his visit and his continued support of The Murri School, he was presented with a beautiful handmade wall piece, lovingly created by our Library Assistant, Miss Stacey. Our students also treated him to a special performance of “We Are the Kids from the Murri School.”

Thank you, Mr Kevin, for your continued support of our school and for sharing your love of books, reading and storytelling with our students. We always love having you visit us here at The Murri School.

Our staff definitely understood today’s assignment — Where’s Wally

There were Wallys everywhere you looked at school today. Our staff got right into the Book Week spirit and certainly made sure they were easy to spot…or were they? 👀

Our school was filled with colour, creativity and plenty of familiar characters as our students and staff brought some of their favourite books and stories to life.

A big thank you to everyone who dressed up and joined in the fun — we loved seeing the effort and imagination that went into all the costumes! 👏🏽📖
