Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary 💙

Today we celebrate the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a symbol of Mary’s pure love, deep faith, and unwavering trust in God. Her heart inspires us to choose kindness in our relationships, compassion in our actions, and faith in the moments that challenge us.

May Mary's example guide our students, staff, and families to live with hope and humility.

The Prep students have been retelling stories this term. To support their retelling of "No Way Yirrikipayi!", they created a map of the Tiwi Islands featuring the characters from the story.

In the story, Yirrikipayi is very hungry and goes hunting for food. He begins in the water, swims through the mangroves, and wanders through the long grass. Still hungry, he continues his search in the mud and beside the swamp, where he finally spots a delicious snake hiding under a log.

On Thursday 4th June the Year 4 and Year 5 classes represented Our Lady of Fatima at Australia Zoo. During their excursion, the students observed a range of animals, explored their habitats, took part in an education program aligned with their Science learning and participated in engaging activities throughout the zoo.

CRIKEY! What a great experience to support and enrich both their Science and HASS learning at school. Thank you to the staff who organised and attended this excursion.

Join us in prayer for Mabo Day.

Every year on 3 June, we commemorate Mabo Day and the life of activist Eddie ‘Koiki’ Mabo - a Torres Strait Islander man of Mer Island.
On this day in 1992, the High Court overturned the myth of terra nullius (land belonging to no one) and recognised First Nations land rights through the historic Mabo Decision.

Mabo Day reminds us of the power of persistence, truth-telling, and standing up for what’s right.

All In for National Reconciliation Week.

National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May, marking the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum, to 3 June, commemorating the historic Mabo decision recognising the land rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme reminds us that reconciliation is not a single moment - it’s an ongoing commitment to listening, learning, and taking meaningful action.
Every step forward helps build a more just and connected future.
Let’s walk together with openness, understanding, and hope.

Today marks 2 years since the passing of Mr Damian Gambley, Principal of OLOF 2015-2024. Time passes, but Damian's impact on the staff, students and families of OLOF remains strong. Damian was a mentor, a fierce advocate for his students, and a friend to all.

In his final message to us, Damian reminded us to "keep caring for one another each and every day and please take each day as an opportunity to be a Good News person".

Rest in peace, Damian.
