At Kids Cave Aberglasslyn, play is more than fun — it’s the foundation for lifelong skills. Recently, our Koalas have been exploring foods from around the world, practising how to make dumplings and spaghetti as part of their Healthy Eating Journey.

These experiences support early maths, language, cultural awareness, independence and healthy attitudes toward food. In the coming weeks, we’ll be extending this learning into real cooking and tasting experiences.

🌱 Sustainability at Kids Cave Aberglasslyn 🌱

At Kids Cave, sustainability is embedded into our educational program for children of all ages. We believe children learn best by actively participating in caring for their environment and developing an understanding of where food comes from.

Our children are involved in maintaining our vegetable gardens, vertical garden towers, and compost tumbler, providing hands-on opportunities to explore the natural world. Food scraps from meals and snacks are added to our compost tumbler, where children observe how waste can be transformed into nutrient-rich compost. This compost is then used to nourish our gardens, helping children understand the full cycle of growing food and reducing waste.

Through planting, watering, harvesting, composting, and caring for living things, children develop responsibility, environmental awareness, and a sense of connection to nature. These experiences encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and an appreciation for sustainable practices that can be carried into their homes and future communities.

By making sustainability a part of everyday learning, we empower children to become active and capable custodians of the environment while fostering a lifelong respect for our planet. 🌏💚
