There is something uniquely special about the bond between grandparents and grandchildren. SENIOR CRICKET
GALA DAY CHAMPIONS!

What an outstanding achievement from our Senior Cricket Team, who finished the first two Inner West Primary Schools Sports Association Cricket Gala Days undefeated across all five games!

After strong performances across Gala Days 1 and 2, the team defeated Haberfield PS in the semi-final before producing a calm and composed performance against Croydon PS in the grand final to take out the title!

While the results were fantastic, what was even more impressive was the way this team played together. Teamwork, encouragement, communication, leadership and continued skill development were evident throughout every game. The team maintained a calm disposition on the field, supported one another and showed great maturity under pressure.

Mr Hull was, as always, incredibly proud and impressed with all 13 members of the team and the way they represented Abbotsford Public School throughout the competition.

Congratulations, champions!

A fantastic achievement and a brilliant example of what can be accomplished when a team works together.

We look forward to doing it all again for Gala Days 3 and 4 next term!

1/2A have been studying, Living world- Healthy choices- ‘Farm to plate’.
Today they put theory into practice and cooked up a storm in the staff room.
With a full menu of Basil Pasta, Tomato Pesto Pasta, and fruit salad students chopped, diced, and stirred to create a wonderful meal.
The smiles on their faces showed how much they enjoyed the process.

On Wednesday, a group of our high potential and gifted Year 5 mathematicians and our Maths Olympiad mentor, Mr Hull, had a fantastic day at Concord High School taking part in the Inquisitive Minds Maths Challenge.

Throughout the day, students put their mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills to the test through a range of interactive and hands-on challenges. They began by working alongside a partner from our own school before branching out in the Relay Challenge, where each student teamed up with a Year 5 mathematician from another local primary school. The day finished with the Longest Bridge Building Challenge, putting teamwork, creativity and mathematical thinking into action!

Our students demonstrated wonderful resilience, collaboration and leadership throughout the day, particularly when faced with challenging problems that required them to think outside the box.

A special congratulations to Devin, who, together with his partner from another school, achieved 1st place in the Relay Challenge! 🥇👏

Opportunities such as these highlight the importance of strong partnerships with our local public high school, Concord High School, providing valuable opportunities for our students to connect, collaborate and extend their learning alongside students from across our community of public schools. We greatly value this partnership and the opportunities it creates for our students as they continue their learning journey into high school.

The weather was picture perfect for a day at Featherdale Wildlife Park.
Mrs McKay was as excited as the students at heading off this morning. Mr Hickey was delighted to accompany kindergarten and he took lots of photos to send back to his family in Ireland. They couldn’t believe how close students were able to get to the wallabies, and that they were happy to be patted.
Mr Hickey like many of the students, was pleased to note the thick pane of glass separating him from the snakes!!

The creative P&C team, organised a Scavenger Hunt around the school to celebrate Father’s Day, on Friday afternoon.

Dads and children were given a quest to search the school for animals and find the corresponding number code. Prizes were available for those who mastered the quest.
A BBQ and an afternoon of games rounded off an amazing afternoon.

Dads connected with each other, and in some cases, three generations came along to celebrate.

These photos show the special bond between fathers and children.

We thank the hardworking P&C who had an early start setting up the Father's Day stall in the library.

A Symphony of Stories was this year’s theme for Book Week.

At Abbotsford it is a close call as to who enjoys the day more, the students or the teachers.

This year, teachers went all out to dress to the theme. From conductors to cellists, to channeling the piano, the teachers rocked.
Students were the best we have ever seen.

The theme inspired amazingly creative designs and parents and grandparents outdid themselves. From 3D printed Medusa heads to papier mache pears, parents deserve their own certificates of accomplishment.

The Wiggles in their Big Red Car made a surprise visit and supported the Dolphin crew from Abbotsford Long Day Care.

Parents were out in force with the playground flooded with parents out in force to enjoy the spectacularly bright day.

This morning we received news from
Cricket Australia that Elsa Hunter and Lauren Cheatle from the Sydney Sixers WBBL team would be coming down to the Have a Blast Girls Cricket program this afternoon to meet the girls and play some cricket with them!

Teachers working late into the afternoon, were treated to the joyous screams and shouts of students as they played alongside elite athletes.

Thank you to Cricket Australia for providing such an entertaining skills program. Hopefully they have sown the seeds for future competitive cricket players.

The early morning inclement weather did not deter the crowds from attending Ferrogusto. There were queues of people in all directions lining up for tasty treats and great shopping.

The school rock band, Endless Flight played five rock anthems on the FerraComunitá stage. The cohesive band had the crowd clapping in time, as the instrumentalists and singers complemented each other to provide an amazing performance.

Nancy Sinatra would have been proud of, "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'". The crowd was energised by the music and everyone was tapping in time to the music.

Yesterday, our local long day care and preschool friends joined us for a Teddy Bear’s Picnic.
Our student leaders created a wonderful morning of art and craft, games and music, based on the Teddy Bear theme.
The prospective students were able to experience our beautiful grounds first hand.
At the end of the session every child took home a tiny teddy bear in a can.
We can’t quite bottle all the fabulous things we do at Abbotsford but the list of ingredients gives an idea of the quality learning we provide, in exceptional surroundings.
