YKR duo finally reunited for one of the best possible reasons! Nothing like a wedding to get people into one location, and what a beautiful celebration it was — congrats Freya and Rooie!

Although leave in October wasn’t my first choice, it worked out because it meant I had time off prior to the end of my Masters to get everything done, while also being able to squeeze in a trip to NZ for a couple of weeks!

Alllmost ready to crack on in Urology next term. Heading to a list on Monday so I can get ahead a bit early so I can get the most out of the next term! (Thank you to the current urology reg who’s happy to show me the ropes). Keen to learn all the things before heading into my desired job in general surgery for next year! Bring it on!

The best thing about doing nights in my current job is the week off that we get afterwards 💕💕💕

Perfect timing for me to turn 3️⃣0️⃣ too!!!

On annual leave (all in one go this year) and spending a couple of weeks in New Zealand, right before a lot of masters work is due but at least a lot of it is done already! Keen for the South Island in a few days time, so if you’ve been and have recommendations, put them in the comments below! 👇

Term 2 paediatric Short Stay Unit over and out! Goodbyes don’t get any easier 😭😭 but we got dumplings and ice cream to mark the occasion! It was dream working with these guys ✨ SSUper stars 🤩 (not Short Stay Away like one of our consultants called it 😅 the more the merrier!!)

I’ve been doing Thursday days as the SSU fellow all year and it’s such a great job. It’s busy but super fun. Definitely a highlight of my whole week!

Over the weekend we celebrated our anniversary in freezing but stunning Daylesford! Also, a moment for a big shout out to anyone who loves and supports a doctor/doctor to be, whether as a partner, a friend, family members — we often neglect our message replies, we are often tired and stressed and want nothing more but to eat and go to bed, lots of cancelled plans due to unplanned overtime/being called in, but it’s all of you who helps us get through it all! 💞

Every day I know how lucky I am to have such a huge support in my life especially now that we’ve closed the long distance chapter!

I work in the Short Stay Unit (aka The Dungeon) one day a week and loveeeee it.

It’s mostly bread and butter paediatric issues with projected short admission times. It’s BUSY but fun and the vibes are high and interdisciplinary teamwork (and banter) between medical and nursing is awesome ✨

Featured in this photo: our term 1 regs who finished a few weeks ago and our term 2 interns who finished this week 💫

Happy birthday to my love! 3️⃣3️⃣

And with that, a big shout out to all medical WAGS ✨ loving a doctor/medical student can be hard work and Roo has been my biggest cheerleader throughout it all. I love you!

PART TIME ⚖️

It has been ~2 months since I dropped to part-time work. I’m 0.7 FTE at the moment which averages ~65 hours a fortnight (with a little rostered overtime). It’s a mix of clinical and non-clinical and I work the same days pretty much every week (and no nights!).

With Covid/lockdowns and then straight into specialty exam season, I felt like I was in “survival mode” for a couple of years just trying to manage this plus working in medicine (which all by itself can be really physically and mentally challenging).

Going part time has been the best decision I’ve made in a LONG time. I feel like I’ve finally got my life back! And it definitely makes me a better doctor when I am at work.

Ft. a photo of me yesterday practising my rollerblading 😅😅 I got the cheapest skates and safety gear I could find which turned out to be very heavy on the pink/pastels which is slightly mortifying when in public haha. I’m having fun exploring all the new hobbies I now have time to pursue!!
