Partner Days 2026 at Tecnológico de Monterrey

"From my professional perspective in Software and License Management, the technological environment at Tec de Monterrey was particularly inspiring. I was impressed by the modern equipment, digital infrastructure and IT tools integrated into teaching and everyday campus life, especially in the Business School. Technology was not presented as an isolated service, but as an integral part of collaborative learning, innovation and the student experience. Observing this approach gave me useful ideas and encouraged me to consider which practices and solutions could be evaluated for the further development of our own digital services and software environment at UAS Technikum Wien."

What new skills and qualities have you acquired?
"Above all, I’ve learned to work more independently and in a more structured way. Since I had to handle many tasks on my own, I was able to improve my skills in planning, problem-solving, and evaluation. Professionally, I also learned a great deal about calculating large-scale solar potential on building facades and comparing different methods. In addition, living and working in another country was very valuable, as it allowed me to gain a lot culturally as well. I got to know a new daily routine in Lisbon, adapted to different ways of working and living, and realized how enriching it is to be in an international environment."

How did you prepare for your study abroad program?
"I followed Korea University’s standard application process. After being nominated by Technikum Wien, everything was handled through the host university’s online portal. Occasionally, some uncertainties arose, but they were always quickly resolved after a brief inquiry with the International Office. I had no problems with the Learning Agreement, as I found well-suited, comparable courses. I didn’t have to take a language test. My most important advice: Follow the instructions exactly and don’t miss any emails. Course registration is crucial—sign up the very second the system opens, otherwise you won’t get a spot in popular courses. Be sure to take advantage of pre-registration as well."

Looking back, what was the biggest challenge you faced while preparing for or during your stay abroad?
"At first, the biggest challenge was the organization: finding an apartment, choosing courses, completing the Learning Agreement, and navigating the various university systems. The language adjustment and the new environment were also a bit challenging at first. Over time, however, it became much easier because I was able to find my way around better and received support from other students. Looking back, this challenge was very valuable because it helped me become more independent and confident."

How did you find your internship? How did you apply for it? How did you prepare for your stay abroad?
"To have embarked on a term as a visiting student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) represents more than an academic milestone. It was an entry into one of the world’s most concentrated ecosystems of innovation. From my moment of arrival on the Cambridge campus, the reasons behind the institution’s global ranking became clear to me. The density of talent, the commitment to empirical excellence, and the intellectual energy within the infinite corridors of the interconnected and countless buildings validate their reputation. This report aims to outlines my academic journey, the practicalities of living in Cambridge, the financial dynamics, and the community integration I have experienced during the stay."

The instructors were open to questions and actively supported the students. The interaction with international classmates was particularly positive, as it brought different perspectives to the classroom. What new skills and qualities have you acquired?
"I gained basic Korean abilities and noticeably improved my English conversation skills. My social confidence also increased, and traveling alone taught me to adapt quickly, meet new people, and ask for help more readily.

Navigating bureaucracy and unfamiliar systems independently (visa, ARC, banking) was a major learning experience. I often had to piece together answers from multiple people, since information wasn’t always centralized or consistent; sometimes this worked well, other times I simply had to guess and adjust along the way.

Cross-cultural communication became second nature, adapting how I explained things when English wasn’t shared. Academically, adjusting to different teaching and grading styles, along with unfamiliar exam formats, was important, though not overly difficult to manage.

Overall, this experience significantly improved my resume and interview skills, giving me concrete examples to draw from in future applications."
