📌 New publication in Nature Geoscience by Amano et al., reveals that heterotrophic bacteria, particularly the marine genus Alteromonas, substantially contribute to oceanic dissolved inorganic carbon fixation via anaplerotic pathways, accounting for an estimated ~17% of dark DIC fixation and a significant global carbon flux (~0.2 PgC yr-1).

📌 New publication in Limnology and Oceanography by Marchioro et al., shows that fluorescent proteins in Madracis corals have species-specific, structurally distinct distributions that correlate with symbiont localization and light exposure, suggesting they contribute to ecological adaptation and species differentiation.
