The name “Ágnes Havasi” is for sure familiar to almost everyone who has visited the Medieval Library over the past 26 years. As of 1 August 2024 Agnes retires and will focus on new things.
She joined the library team in 1998 and was actively involved when the CEU-ELTE library moved to its current location. She has worked with several librarian colleagues and was always in charge of the afternoon shifts.
Ágnes knows much about both the readers and the books in the library. She is the person who helped many students in making their first steps in discovering this special library. She also followed their professional development until they became professors in various universities of different continents.
She always knew which new books might be of interest to any visitor to the library. Her personality, librarian skills, ability to build and operate structures as well as her perseverance over all these years have greatly contributed to shaping the character of this library. Her retirement will open a new chapter not only in her life but also in the operation of the library.
On behalf of all the library users over the past 26 years, we thank her for her dedicated service and wish her all the best in the next phase of her life - and that of the library.
