We were delighted to welcome study abroad advisors from 11 different countries to Modul University Vienna for an immersive experience.. Throughout the visit, our guests had the opportunity to connect with our professors, learn more about our programs and teaching approaches, meet our students, explore their projects and experience Vienna through their eyes.

One of the highlights was our student panel, where advisors could ask candid questions and hear authentic stories about studying, living, and growing at MU. This continued through personalised campus tours, with each advisor guided by our Modulians who shared their own insider perspectives on university life, favorite campus spots, and what makes Vienna such an exceptional student city.

We were also proud to spotlight the talent and entrepreneurial spirit of our students through presentations from our business competition participants, including Samaira Hassan, Jaanya Chawla, and Cara Ritthammer, who shared their ideas, ambition, and creativity with our guests.

Equally inspiring were the stories shared by our alumni. Kristina S., IT Project Manager, and Sima Kuzbari, entrepreneur and founder of Skookies, reflected on their journeys after MU and how their university experience helped shape their professional paths.

Last week, students from the Tourism, Event and Hotel Management Capstone Project presented their final showcase in a World Café Forum format.
Coordinated by Michele Bettin, the showcase brought together the students’ semester-long exploration of how tourism experiences in Vienna are produced, regulated, and spatially organized. Looking beyond the visitor-facing side of some of the city’s iconic experiences, students uncovered the operational, managerial, and spatial mechanisms behind them.

The event created an open space for conversation, where guests, faculty, peers, and study abroad advisors could move between groups, ask questions, and engage directly with the students’ research.

What does sovereignty mean in a Europe shaped by geopolitical transition?

As part of our Kahlenberg Lectures, Modul University Vienna had the pleasure of welcoming Lord David Frost for a thought-provoking conversation on “Sovereignty and the Future of Europe.”

Hosted by Prof. Doug Stokes, Head of the School of International Relations and Professor at MU, the lecture explored some of the most pressing questions facing Europe today: sovereignty, governance, diplomacy, and the future of international order.

Drawing on his extensive experience as the United Kingdom’s Chief Negotiator for Exiting the European Union, former Minister of State at the Cabinet Office, and former UK Ambassador to Denmark, Lord Frost offered unique insights into Europe’s evolving political landscape and the realities of high-level negotiation.

The discussion reflected the purpose of the Kahlenberg Lectures: to bring influential global voices to Vienna and give our students direct access to the people shaping today’s debates in international relations, diplomacy, and global policy.

How do future business leaders learn to solve real-world challenges? By stepping into them.

From 10–15 May 2026, Modul University Vienna Master’s students Gaia Giorgi, Samaira Hassan, Tamás Bencsik, and Cara Ritthammer took part in the inaugural Adam Smith Business School Case Competition in Glasgow, hosted by the University of Glasgow.

Led by MU University Lecturer Eva Aileen Jungwirth-Edelmann, the team joined students from around the world for a week of business challenges, industry exposure, networking, and cultural exchange. Across three case heats, teams worked on real cases connected to the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch Whisky, and the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Each round introduced a different format, from short pitch-style presentations to longer case presentations followed by Q&A sessions in front of jury panels featuring senior representatives from the case companies. This gave students the opportunity to apply strategic thinking, market analysis, stakeholder understanding, teamwork, and presentation skills under real time pressure.

Beyond the competition itself, the week also included networking events, an industry visit, a welcome reception, and a Scottish ceilidh, creating a learning experience that combined academic case work with industry insight and international connection.

We are proud to see our Master’s students representing Modul University Vienna in this global setting and engaging with the kind of real-world business challenges that prepare them for leadership beyond the classroom.

When extreme weather hits, communication matters. 🌧️

Klimriko, a collaborative research project between BOKU and Modul University Vienna, looks at how the 2024 floods in Vienna and Lower Austria were communicated online, and how people may have perceived the risks.

The goal: better climate risk communication for future extreme weather events.

Stay tuned for more.
