☕️ Coffee with the Director, an inspiring morning of open and honest exchanges, and connection.

Our first Coffee with the Director of the school year brought together a great number of parents for meaningful discussion about our school community.

We cannot thank our parents enough for their time, engagement and willingness to share their perspectives. This is exactly the kind of partnership we want to foster and sustain at VIS.

A strong school is built together, through listening, dialogue, constructive challenge and shared ideas. While we couldn’t address every question in the time available, the conversation continues, with further responses and opportunities for discussion to come.

Thank you for being part of the conversation and for helping us move forward together. 💙

🧠 Exploring Our Amazing Brains

What makes us US? Our Grade 2 students are exploring this question as part of their “Who We Are” Unit of Inquiry.

In this lesson, students learned about the structure and function of the brain by observing a dissection demonstration on screen and then creating their own brain models using plasticine. As they shaped and assembled their models, they explored the different parts of the brain and how they help us learn, move, remember and experience the world around us.

A creative way for our young inquirers to connect science with the bigger question of what it means to be human. 🧠✨

Learning German in Primary School — from a parent’s perspective!

Today, our Primary parents stepped into the classroom to experience German learning at VIS for themselves. They met members of our German team, explored the programme and discovered how students develop their language skills while learning more about life and culture in Austria.

Parents visited different levels of German classrooms, explored the materials and resources students use, and experienced first-hand how German lessons are conducted at VIS. 📚✨

A great opportunity to see language learning from a student’s perspective and gain a deeper understanding of what happens in our German classrooms every day.

🌍 Celebrating learning, creativity and community!

Grade 7 wrapped up an inspiring IDU Week with a vibrant International Evening, bringing together the many different sides of their learning and creativity.

From academic progress and artistic talents to an impressive showcase of culinary skills, students and parents came together to make the evening a memorable celebration of our international community.

And of course, a special thank you to our students and parents for the wonderful buffet, there was certainly no shortage of delicious dishes to enjoy! 🍽️

Well done, Grade 7, and thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a success! 💙🌎

Looking ahead, learning from those already on the journey. 🌍

What will the world of work look like for our students? And what skills will matter most as technology and AI continue to reshape the future?

At VIS Futures Day, our Grade 11 and 12 students had the opportunity to explore these questions through conversations with parents, alumni and recent graduates from the Class of 2026, each bringing their own experiences and perspectives from different career paths.

Across a series of engaging panels, students asked questions, exchanged ideas and heard first-hand what it is like to navigate education, careers and an ever-changing world beyond high school.

From adaptability and lifelong learning to the human advantage in an increasingly automated world, the day was about looking beyond job titles and thinking about how our students can build the confidence, curiosity and resilience to shape their own futures.

A big thank you to all the parent volunteers, alumni and recent graduates who gave their time to share their journeys and make these conversations possible. 💙

🎵 When Music Brings Schools Together
What a special day at VIS as we welcomed the Wesley College Music School from Melbourne, Australia, on the first stop of their European performance tour. 🇦🇺🇦🇹

Their visit was more than a performance. It was an opportunity for young musicians from two schools, two countries and two sides of the world to meet, listen, learn and make music together.

A particularly special moment was seeing the Wesley College musicians perform alongside our Primary Choir, bringing the two groups together on stage. For our students, it was a chance not only to hear an exciting live performance, but to experience the connection and confidence that comes from sharing music with others.

School exchanges like this remind us that learning does not always happen in a classroom. Sometimes, it happens through a shared rhythm, a new friendship, an unfamiliar song, or simply the experience of standing on stage together. 🌍🎶

Thank you to Wesley College for making VIS your first stop in Europe and for sharing your music and energy with our community. We wish you a wonderful journey ahead!

There’s music in the air, the BBQ is going, food is being shared, and everywhere you look, members of our community are catching up, laughing and enjoying the afternoon together.

From energetic games and bouncing fun to live music, delicious food and the simple joy of being together, today’s PTA Welcome Back BBQ has brought the VIS community right back to life after the summer. 🎶🍔🍿

New families are meeting old friends, students are making the most of the afternoon, and staff, parents and children are all sharing the same space, smiles and sunshine. This is the kind of afternoon that makes a school feel like a community. 💙

A huge thank you to our PTA for bringing everyone together — and to everyone who came along and made the campus feel so wonderfully alive!

🥳 A little soufflé magic in Food Design!

Our Grade 9 Food Design students put their skills to the test this afternoon, making soufflés from scratch! 👩‍🍳✨

And this time, there were no screens involved. 📵 Students worked from handwritten recipes, putting their focus on the ingredients, techniques, the cooking process and, of course, watching those soufflés rise!

A delicious example of learning by doing, creativity and hands-on skills. 🍽️👏 Well done, Grade 9!

🌱 Our first Primary School Assembly of the year! 🌱

This afternoon, our Primary students came together for their first assembly of the new school year, a wonderful opportunity to meet our new Principals and, most importantly, explore what it means to be part of a community. 💙

Together, our students reflected on how we can:�
🤝 Be kind and caring towards others�
👂 Be good listeners�
🌍 Welcome new members into our community

There was also plenty of celebration! 🎉 We sang Happy Birthday to all our September birthday stars and celebrated together as a Primary community.

Our students were also introduced to an exciting opportunity to make a difference beyond our school: the Vienna Climate Run, taking place on Saturday, 26 September in the Prater. 🌿🐝

What a wonderful way to begin the year, learning, connecting, welcoming and caring for our community and our planet. 💚

🎉 Welcome back, VIS! 🐾

The halls are buzzing, classrooms are coming to life, and the VIS community is together again! 💙

Today marks the first day of the 2026–2027 school year, and we are so excited to welcome our students back to campus, ready to reconnect with friends, meet new classmates, learn, explore and make new memories together.

Here’s to a wonderful year ahead filled with curiosity, connection, learning and plenty of Panther spirit. 🐾
