EU simplifies the VAT related procedures, and creates a fairer environment for local businesses. It also assigns more responsibility to the online selling platforms like Amazon. Requiring the large players to deal with VAT paymments on behalf of the individual sellers also makes it easier for the Commission to fight the potential fraud.

New VAT e-commerce rules in the EU VAT for e-commerce

Europe has been for years a leader in setting the standards for food products. Support for organic and sustainable farming is a logical step in ensuring that these high standards can be met, and that the prices can be set at the levels affordable for the wider groups of population. Only then the calls for sustainable consumption will sound not as a hypocrisy propagated by a wealthy few, but as a rational choice available to many.
