Heat waves, new beginnings and plenty of participation.

Our latest Toastmasters Villach meeting was built around the very timely theme of “heatwaves”, led by our Toastmaster of the Evening, Heinz. And our Word of the Evening, “mitigate”, gave everyone an extra challenge to work into their speaking.

Eva delivered her acceptance speech as our new Vice President of Education (VPE), while Sioux led an interactive educational session on Base Camp, showing us how to make the most of the resources available and make taking on meeting roles and completing projects that little bit easier.

There was plenty of interaction throughout the evening, including a lively break before Chris took over as Table Topics Master, putting our impromptu speaking skills to the test. Beth then brought everything together with her General Evaluation of the meeting.

Another evening of learning, practising, laughing and supporting each other – exactly what Toastmasters Villach is all about.

Stoicism, games and exquisiteness – just another evening at Toastmasters Villach.

Our first prepared speech came from Christoph, who introduced us to the wisdom of Marcus Aurelius and one of the central ideas of Stoicism:

"We have no power over external events; only over how we respond to them."

It was a thoughtful reminder that while we can't control everything life throws at us, we can always choose our reaction.

Our Toastmaster of the Evening, Marc, built the meeting around the theme "The Power of Community."

It couldn't have been more fitting. Toastmasters Villach is much more than a public speaking club – it's a supportive community where people encourage one another to grow, challenge themselves and build confidence together.

To round off the evening, our Table Topics Master, Matt, brought out everyone's inner child with a series of spontaneous speaking challenges inspired by games. There were plenty of laughs, quick thinking and creative answers.
