Changing My Life Through English

Participants of the "Changing my life through English" courses organized by the JAV Ambasada Vilniuje / U.S. Embassy Vilnius and LAKMA - Lietuvos anglų kalbos mokytojų asociacija in Švenčionys at the end of the school year go on a trip where they apply their English language skills practically. ❤️🌎

This year we flew to the capital of Austria, Vienna 🇦🇹 Everyone was prepared to talk about tourist attractions in English and acted as real guides leading tours for friends.

An invaluable experience awaited us at the Vienna State Opera, where we watched Shakespeare's opera "The Tempest" in English.

During the trip everyone conversed a lot in English, ordered food, taxis, bought presents for their loved ones. On Saturday evening, we spent time watching Eurovision in a local restaurant and during Lithuania's 🇱🇹 performance, we sang "Luktelk".

The last classes of 'Changing my Life through English' were artistic ones. Thanks to our guest art lover, Audronė Blekaitienė, the adult learners in Vilkaviškis became immersed in the calming atmosphere of Bob Ross's videos. Inspired by Bob Ross's famed painting techniques, the learners painted their own masterpieces and revised many words and grammar structures they had learned during this course. This magical and peaceful aura of art and music made the time fly quickly, leaving us with the hope to meet for one more year of English language discoveries and friendship.

Today Tauragė group had a wonderful time with Heather Gaddis ❤️🙏.

Last week adult learners in Kretinga were truly blessed with the guests who took their time to come and share their experiences with the students. We we delighted to welcome Dr. Adam Mastandrea who talked about Montana State, US. The second guest was Rasa Dooling who introduced her project "50.Plus.And.Happy" and discussed the concepts of ageism, body positivity and explained how an app "Open Wardrobe" works.

Students in Švenčionys created posts about Easter 🐥🐣using social media simulation platforms. 😃😍🥳

Learning a language with a help of songs has an array of benefits. Not only it is an incredible tool to naturally master vocabulary as well as pronunciation but songs could be an excellent way to learn grammar structures. One evening adult learners in Kretinga sang songs in English language and worked on conditional sentences type 1 and type 2.
Songs used: Kate Melua "If I were a sailboat" and Beyonce "If I were a boy".
