An inspiring week has come to an end. This year’s summer workshop on geospatial technologies for building resilience brought together a diverse group of professionals, fostering learning, collaboration, and growth.
The workshop's primary focus was on harnessing geospatial technologies to bolster community resilience against disasters and climate change. Distinguished keynote speakers shared theoretical insights and practical examples, paving the way for hands-on sessions to effectively apply these technologies. The esteemed faculty of this year's workshop comprised experts from prestigious organizations, including UN FAO, UNDRR, UNIDO, UNOOSA, WorldBank / GEF, European Commission's Joint Research Center, European Space Agency (ESA), Yamaguchi University, American University of Central Asia (AUCA), Babes-Bolyai University, Esri, Google, Tracasa Instrumental, among others. Their collective expertise enriched the learning experience, promising innovative approaches to address pressing global challenges.

CEU Summer University "Exploring Geospatial Technologies for Achieving SDGs – Building Resilience" has successfully commenced in Budapest this morning(24th July, 2023). The first session of the day started with welcoming remarks from the course director Dr. Viktor Lagutov and co-director Mr. Lorant Czaran(UNOOSA). The session also included a warm welcome speech from Professor Dr. Laszlo Kontler, who is a Pro-Rector at CEU.
The project team is very pleased to host a diverse group of professionals, academicians and students who are constantly sharing their expertise and knowledge through all the sessions and networking activities.
This year, the workshop’s faculty includes prominent experts from renowned organizations such as, UNDRR, UN FAO, UNIDO, UNOOSA, WorldBank / GEF, European Commission’s Joint Research Center, European Space Agency (ESA), Yamaguchi University, AUCA, Babes-Bolyai University, Esri, Google, Tracasa Instrumental, among others. This year's workshop brings together around 36 participants from around the world, creating an impactful platform for networking and forging professional connections to drive collaborative environmental and food security projects on a global scale.

In “Introduction to Geospatial Technologies for Achieving SDGs – Food Security”, practitioners and academics engaged in interesting and enriching discussions, delving into the uses of geospatial technologies in agriculture and the digital transformation of rural areas. Speakers from organisations such as FAO, UNDP, GEF, and many others presented their best-use practices and valuable insights from the field.
