Over the course of several successful days at this year’s NAFSA Association of International Educators conference in Orlando, our higher education institutions had the opportunity to meet with numerous partner institutions from across the United States and Canada to discuss existing partnerships and initiate new collaborations.

The annual conference also provided an excellent platform to exchange views on current developments and trends with partners from across North America and around the world.

With more than 200 participants from across the globe, the evening offered a valuable opportunity for networking and for strengthening academic connections across the North American region. 🌐

This year, Central European University in Vienna is hosting the HUMANE Summer School “Change Management and Transformation in Universities” from September 6–11, 2026.

The programme is aimed at fast-rising senior university managers and leaders involved in transformation processes within higher education institutions. It focuses on leadership development, organisational change, stakeholder engagement, and innovative approaches to transformation in academic settings through case studies, strategic discussions, and collaborative international teamwork.

The application deadline has recently been extended to May 22, 2026.

NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo 2026

We’re excited to be part of the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo 2026 in Orlando (26–29 May)! Together with several Austrian higher education institutions, the OeAD will once again represent the Austrian higher education landscape as part of “Study in Austria”.

We’re looking forward to connecting with partner institutions from around the world and exchanging ideas on current developments and trends in higher education.

🎓 Study Medicine in Austria – with a scholarship!

The Danube Private University (DPU) is offering scholarships covering 50% of tuition fees for its full diploma programmes in Human Medicine (Dr. med. univ.) and Dental Medicine (Dr. med. dent.).
• Open to highly motivated students worldwide
• Duration: full programme (12 semesters)

📅 Application deadline: 26 June 2026

The scholarship supports talented applicants with strong motivation and a clear interest in a medical career – with the goal of strengthening future healthcare in Lower Austria.

DPU has also recently launched a new English-taught PhD programme “Precision and Personalized Medicine”, combining biomedical research, clinical medicine, AI and more.

💡 What the programme offers:
• Full tuition waiver
• Funded PhD position incl. salary
• Access to international research networks

Starting in winter semester 2026/27, the Universität Salzburg is introducing a new Major-Minor Bachelor model – giving students more flexibility than ever before.

🌍 Mix fields like science, languages, politics, or culture
📚 Build your own academic path with a major + minor or additional skill modules

The programme still follows the standard 180 ECTS structure, and graduates are guaranteed access to a Master’s programme in their major field at the University of Salzburg.

From Climate Change & Sustainability to Digital Humanities, this model opens the door to interdisciplinary learning and future-ready skills.
