This week, we will start introducing our new teachers for the upcoming school year.
Starting off strong with Mr. Dave Santos, who will be our new Learning Support Team Leader (PYP).
„I come from the Philippines, an archipelago of 7,641 islands, known for its warmth, hospitality, resilience, humor, strong family ties, and love for community. In this photo, I am wearing a Barong Tagalog, the national formal wear of the Philippines. Behind me is the Philippine flag — and one interesting fact is that when the red side is placed on top, it means the country is at war.
Growing up Filipino also means growing up in a multilingual culture. Many of us naturally switch between Filipino, English, and local languages in everyday conversation. We also celebrate one of the longest Christmas seasons in the world, sometimes starting as early as September. And of course, food is a love language in the Philippines. When someone asks, “Have you eaten?” it often means, “I care about you.”
Professionally, I have spent over 20 years working in education, especially in Learning Support and inclusive teaching. My teaching roots are in Special Education, Mathematics, and helping students access learning in ways that work best for them.
I am now moving from tropical Manila to beautiful Carinthia — so yes, I am definitely preparing myself for real winter! But wherever I go, I bring with me a strong belief in community, belonging, and the idea that every learner deserves to be seen, supported, and included.
New school, new country, same belief: every learner deserves to belong.“
Please give him a warm welcome in the comments ✨
