From young children who practiced for days, to teachers, musicians of all levels or people who just happened to be around Mirabellgarten and spontaneously sang along - what a joy it was to witness everyone coming together to celebrate Mozart’s 270th birthday by performing his most famous melody 🎶

Music brings people together and takes that idea even further 🌍🎶

What if an orchestra didn’t have to share the same stage to perform together?
That’s the vision behind Europasinfonie: an EU-funded artistic and research project bringing together musicians and choirs from 12 European countries to create the world’s first large-scale remote symphony orchestra. Using cutting-edge low-latency technology, performers will rehearse and perform live from their home venues, connected in real time across distances of up to 2,200 km. The project explores how technology can transform musical collaboration while opening new possibilities for education, sustainability and artistic exchange.

We’re proud that is part of this pioneering initiative with the Mozarteum Lab Choir as we work towards the world premiere in June 2027. Beyond the concert, Europasinfonie aims to establish a permanent network of remote music studios, enabling musicians across Europe to rehearse, create and perform together without borders.
Together, we’re shaping the future of music - one connection at a time.

Our honorary professor, the Belarusian flautist, conductor and cultural manager Maria Kalesnikava held the opening speech at the Salzburger Festspiele | Salzburg Festival this past weekend. Her words were touching, inspiring and a reminder of what’s important in life and we highly recommend for you to listen to what she shared with the audience.

We are looking forward to welcoming Maria Kalesnikava at Universität Mozarteum this fall, where she will be writing her dissertation, which focuses on the topic of music and power.
