We proudly announce our new UNIGIS module on spatial data science! 🌍📊

Started on February 10th, this optional module was developed by Christoph Schranz, who works as a data scientist at Salzburg Research. The 6 ECTS module enables GIS professionals to gain deeper insights from data using a comprehensive set of analytical methods and spatial algorithms, including machine learning and neural networks. 🧠💻 It requires advanced knowledge of mathematics and a solid grounding in Python.

Mona Bartling holds a PhD in Applied Geoinformatics from Salzburg. 🎓 As an expert in mobile cartography, geovisualisation, and human-computer interaction (HCI), Mona’s research focuses on how diverse visualisation methods for geographic data enable users to meaningfully interpret and use maps for their specific purposes. 🗺️ 📊 Our students will greatly benefit from Mona’s expertise as they embark on their journey into the exciting world of cartography! 🌟 Welcome Mona! 👋 😊

UNIGIS International Board Meeting in Salzburg

UNIGIS, the largest international university network offering practice-oriented postgraduate programs in Geographic Information Systems as distance learning courses, provides study programs in German, English, Portuguese, Spanish, Polish and Hungarian.

A few weeks ago, directors from our partner universities in Latin America UNIGIS América Latina , Poland Studia Podyplomowe Systemy Informacji Geograficznej UNIGIS , Portugal NOVA IMS, Hungary UNIGIS Hungary, California University of Southern California, Spain Fundació Universitat de Girona: Innovació i Formació, and the Netherlands UNIGIS Amsterdam gathered at Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg to collectively strategize the future of our international collaboration. It was a pleasure to host our colleagues and strengthen the ties within our global UNIGIS network.

Z_GIS Christmas Plenary 2024: Showcasing GI-science within

Last week, our end of the year plenary meeting brought together all workgroups within the Interfaculty Department of Geoinformatics - ZGIS to share insights and showcase ongoing research projects through nine different stations located across the building.

Being part of Z_GIS, with its roughly 90 employees working at the forefront of GI-science, enables UNIGIS and our students to benefit from a professional and academic network that fosters connections, collaboration, and growth in the geospatial field.
