A reminder: Our call for applications is still open
A reminder that the Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies takes applications for our master’s in European Union Studies, starting October 2025.
This English-taught interdisciplinary programme offers comprehensive knowledge of the politics, economics and law of the European Union, combining academic courses with practical experiences like study trips, seminars, simulations and moot courts.

Join tomorrow’s guest lecture (in English) on the relations between the EU and Switzerland, “The Integration of a Non-Member State: Status Quo and Perspectives”, by Prof Dr Astrid Epiney,
a renowned German-Swiss legal scholar at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. She will talk about Switzerland's unique relationship with the EU, the current framework, and potential future developments.
The lecture runs from from 17:00 to 19:00 in room HS213 in the law faculty.

Die Zukunft des Geldes: Bargeld und digitaler Euro
Der Zahlungsverkehr befindet sich im Umbruch. Um diesen Prozess für die Zukunft zu gestalten, hat die EU-Kommission das „Digital Euro Package“ veröffentlicht, mit dem das Bargeld gesichert und ein digitaler Euro eingeführt werden soll. Dieses Reformpaket kann aber auch ganz grundsätzlich die Zukunft des Geldes verändern.

Die Rechtswissenschaftliche Fakultät läd zum Gastvortrag „Die Weiterentwicklung bilateraler Abkommen zwischen der Schweiz und der EU“, von Prof. Dr. Astrid Epiney ein. (If required the lecture will be held in English.)
Prof. Dr. Epiney ist deutsch-schweizerische Rechtswissenschaftlerin und Inhaberin des Lehrstuhls für Europarecht, Völkerrecht und Öffentliches Recht der Universität Freiburg.
Der Vortrag findet am 9. Januar 2025 von 17:00 bis 19:00 Uhr in HS 213 (Mönchsberg 2) statt.

[Job alert] Postdoc wanted
Start the new year strong and apply by Wednesday 8 January for a Postdoc position in Dr Lucy Kinski’s INCONEX project at SCEUS. The role involves developing computational text analysis tools and natural language processing models to identify who is present and who is absent in parliamentary speech in several languages.

Young Scholar Workshop
A last reminder to apply for our two-day Young Scholar Workshop on Thursday, 15 May, and Friday, 16 May 2025! PhD students and postdocs in law, political science, and economics are invited to present their research.
The workshop focuses on “The State of the EU 15 years after the Lisbon Treaty," particularly the Economic and Monetary Union and the EU budget, migration & social rights, the rule of law, and enlargement.
