“A picture is worth a thousand words” – or is it? Photos are often seen as reflections of reality. During the N**i era, Hi**er staged himself at Obersalzberg—reading newspapers, walking with children, enjoying nature. These images, spread millions of times, claimed to show who he really was. But what do they actually reveal?

In our excellent workshop, we traced the stories behind historical photos, learned how to read and question them, and explored how context and sources help uncover the truth behind propaganda.

P.S. A small group of students felt especially accomplished having located the foundation of the Kampfhaeusl in the woods somewhere.

They got the chance to mix and mingle with numerous attendees from politics, culture, and society - including the Kami A. It’s the most wonderful time of the year—our annual Austrian Christmas Cookie Baking! 🎄🍪

This beloved Salzburg College tradition fills our art studio/bake shop (and hearts) with warmth, laughter, and the sweet aroma of freshly baked cookies. Students rolled up their sleeves, sprinkled some holiday magic, and created treats as delightful as the memories we’ll treasure. ✨
