Have an idea worth spreading?
Somewhere out there is a person with a story that could shift how a room full of strangers sees the world.
Maybe that's you. Maybe it's someone you know.
We at TEDxLinz are looking for our next speakers. You get 18 minutes on our red carpet, no fame required, no pitch to sell, just an idea you believe in enough to stand behind.
We're not looking for polish. We're looking for truth: a genuine story, told from experience, backed by real thought, and worth hearing by people who've never met you.
If you've got that idea, this is your moment to share it. If someone else does, tell them we're waiting.
Deadline: Monday, September 14th, 23:59

We have officially reached the end of our Common Grounds 2026 video release series, and we are closing this chapter with a banger.
Thrilled to announce that our final talk - featuring software developer and AI educator Rainer Stropek - is officially selected as a global TEDx Editor’s Pick! :globe_with_meridians::sparkles:
This news brings an extraordinary milestone for our team: that's two TEDx Editor’s Picks from a single event.
It is a profound validation of the quality we strive to curate here in Linz, and a beautiful reward for the months of late-night preparations, and tireless work behind the scenes.
Thanks to Rainer and the vital message he brought to the stage, the talk tackles a deep shift happening in the tech world. As AI takes over more of the actual typing of code, a sense of grief has hit the developer community because "the fun part" feels automated.
With syntax becoming a commodity, the ultimate human skill is no longer just knowing how to type code. It’s clarity - the ability to think precisely, strip away fuzzy concepts, and say exactly what you mean, whether you’re addressing a compiler, a colleague, or an AI agent.
What a spectacular high note to wrap up our talk releases on. Thank you to our amazing community for walking this journey with us!

🔴 While the "Red Dot" is our symbol, the heartbeat of TEDxLinz is the team that builds it.
This past Friday and Saturday, our team gathered for a deep-dive workshop to continue with our next chapter. It was not just about the ideas, but about the people behind the stage.
Designing an event of this scale is a massive labor of love. It’s months of dedication, spirited debates, and meticulous planning. When you’re surrounded by a team this passionate, the "work" feels a lot more like a shared mission.
Here's what was great about the weekend:
🫂 Deep Connection: Moving beyond emails and Slack to share real conversations and big dreams. Ideas, some of which are crazy, and some are obvious, yet all of them highly relevant.
💭 Collective Brilliance: Navigating complex discussions to ensure our next activities truly serve the people who show up. When we see a problem, we often debate - until we reach a solution.
🥘 Good Vibes & Great Food: From high-energy brainstorming sessions to sharing incredible food (because no great idea ever came from an empty stomach ), the laughter was just as important as the logic.
And as always a huge shout-out to the JKU – LIT Open Innovation Center for the space. A home that breathes creativity and collaboration makes all the difference in our process. Thank you for supporting the thinkers and doers of Linz!
We’re more than just an organising committee.
We’re a community.
And we are bringing that energy to all of you 🚀

Today, the world celebrates a landmark: Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. 🎂🌳
For 100 years, he has been more than just a voice; rather a conscience, reminding us that "nature is our greatest ally." We must first learn to truly see the world around us — especially the parts we’ve long ignored.
In this spirit of his mission to protect our planet's hidden wonders, our latest TEDxLinz talk dives into one of the most misunderstood landscapes on Earth: Peatlands.
While we often look to the vast forests, Ann Christin Kornelsen reveals that the humble, "messy" wetland actually stores more carbon than all the world’s forests combined. As described by Sir David - they are the "extra lungs" of our planet. Yet they are disappearing faster than we can protect them.
Now, it’s our turn to protect the parts of it we’ve finally learned to see.

Let’s celebrate a century of inspiration by looking a little closer at the ground beneath our feet. 💚

Four new talks. One for every kind of curious. 🎙️
It's easy to get lost in the noise of a busy week. Sometimes, the best way to regain momentum is to step outside our own expertise — and listen to a someone who quietly challenges everything we assumed we knew.
Whether you have 15 minutes between meetings or a quiet moment in the evening, we hope these ideas provide the spark you need to finish the week strong.
Here's what's waiting for you:
🌿 The 'wasteland' that could help save us all
Ann Christin Kornelsen on peatlands — and why the most powerful climate solution on Earth has been quietly sitting beneath our feet all along.
🏙️ Redesigning Production and Place: Can Technology Reconnect Us?
Kate Armstrong brings forward a beautiful idea of reimagining our cities. Blending global technology with local craftsmanship, she shows us how we can transition from being passive consumers to active creators of the places we call home.
🌳 What My Father’s Death Taught Me About Life
Matthias Rettenbacher on legacy — what we inherit, what we carry, and what it means to consciously choose what we pass on.
🤝 How Social Media Undermines Democracy
Michael Kaufmann on the question nobody in our generation wants to answer honestly: are we the most informed people in history — or the most clueless?
Four talks. Four completely different worlds. All worth your time.
